Alright, I know how to change a tire.. lossen lugnuts, hoist car, take off tire. However... this tire will not come off. I have tried hitting it on the rim to loosen it up, I have tried tugging on it. I have even tried breaking it loose from the hold by lowering the jack so the ground could perhaps do it, NOTHING! It remains firmly planted where it is.
Any suggestions? I need to get to work *lol*Changing a flat, damnable tire won't come off - Ford Mustang, '95?Either the wheel has rusted to the brake drum or the center hole is not large enough for the spindle. This happened to me on a 4WD Suburban. Use jack stands and get a bigger hammer. Use WD-40. Rotate the raised wheel and hit it sharply.Changing a flat, damnable tire won't come off - Ford Mustang, '95?sounds like you better call in.Changing a flat, damnable tire won't come off - Ford Mustang, '95?i have changed tyres for 2 yrs so my experience is to
use your stronger feet to kick on the side profile of the tyre.
kick it as hard as possible, it should come off right away.
watch out for your toes though.Changing a flat, damnable tire won't come off - Ford Mustang, '95?This needs some clarification... is the wheel stuck on the hub or are the lugs stuck on the studs?
If its the lugs...
Using your tire iron or a socket wrench (I believe those mustangs have 5/8%26quot; lugs) put the wrench on the stuck lug. Now get a piece of pipe with a diameter that will fit over the handel of your wrench and use that as the handle from a distance, this will give you leverage if you can not move it by hand (even with the pipe), let keep the socket on the lug and bring the wrench/pipe down far enough that its pressing itself againgst the ground... have somebody hold the wrench/pipe firmly on the lug while you SLOWLY roll the car forward ... the forward motion of the wheel causes the wrench to turn left on the lug, thus loosening it.
If the WHEEL is stuck...
hoist the vehicle, USE JACKSTANDS, from the rear of the stuck wheel, pound (near the hub) the wheel off with a mallet while rotating it.... it might be advisable to soak it with some WD-40 or some similar product. It's likely stuck due to a buildup of grease, brake dust, road dust, and rust.... its just a matter of working through it.... spray it enough and hit it enought and it'll come off ( a good kick from underneath helps too....but make CERTAIN that the vehicle is very very stable on the jackstands)
Another word of caution, when hitting the rim, make sure you dont hit the brake lines or any other things passing by/mounted to the hub.Changing a flat, damnable tire won't come off - Ford Mustang, '95?Loosen the lugs so there just off making contact with the rim of the tire. Jack the car up just high enough to take the pressure of the tire and rim. Find a 4x4 or 2x4 or other heavy piece of wood and hit the rim as hard as possible using the blunt end of the wood. Look at the tire as a clock and start at the 12 o' clock position and work your way clockwise around the rim. By using wood instead of a hammer you can hit the outside edge of the rim with great force without doing damage to the bead area of the rim. Work in a 12, 3, 6, 9, pattern then move to a 2, 5, 8, 11 pattern and so forth until it's loose. This will work quickly if you have another person to hit the opposite end of the wood with a sledge hammer.
