Do you know how to change a tire? How often do you wash your car?

Yes I do. However, I don't do that; the people I buy them from do that. And my husband washes both our cars every weekend. I think that's why it has been raining so much in East Texas lately.

My daddy made me change two tires on my car when I was 16 before he would let me have the keys...because he didn't want me calling him at midnight with a flat tire, lol.Do you know how to change a tire? So confused.

Thanks! On a 2010 Mustang GT Do I need to change tire pressure sensors everytime I get new tires?Besides some idiot at the tire shop not knowing how to dismount a tire with pressure sensors in them, the only thing you should have to worry about is the battery in them running low, which shouldn't happen for several years.

There is no re-set procedure per-se, like on earlier systems. The receiver should get a reading within 2 minutes of driving your car at a minimum speed of 20 mph. The sensors from a similar car should work fine too.

    Sounds like you don't have a copy of your Owner's Manual? You can download a PDF copy from Ford here;

They're pretty standardized now, and made by several manufacturers. Schrader, Airtex, and so on, from many outlets. Even Amazon! Better luck this time.

Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter?

Ideally you need to have the car on a flat surface, however its not always possible. My advice would with be, with the car still on the ground loosen the wheel nuts. The with the car in gear and the handbrake on jack the car up, remove the wheel then replace it with the spare.

Ja.Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter? You normally want it on a flat surface so the car does not roll on you.Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter?try to get it parked on the level, if not put it in gear and make sure handbrake is on firmly, loosen wheelnuts before jacking up the car using jacking point and not the floor of the car.

Raise it enought allow room for inflated wheel to go on and then remove wheel nuts, pull off wheel and put on replacement, fit wheel nuts remembering which way around the nuts face the wheel(if studs, ignore that bit).

Tighten as much as you can then lower car and tighten wheel nuts again, don't be too excessive.

Put all your stuff away and go get puncture fixed.

If you leave that wheel on the car check nuts for tightness after 50 and 100 miles, then weekly as i'm sure you always do anyway when doing regular safety checks.Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter?can you fill the tire to move the car to a FLAT area ?Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter?Hills matter big time. MOST (not all though) cars and vehicle's parking brakes work ONLY on the rear wheels. Not only that, vehicle jack's were designed to work ONLY on level ground. And another important thing is that most cars now days are front wheel drive transverse mounted engine/transmissions. So even with the brake on AND the car's transmission in gear, that doesn't really make it any safer to do on a hill. Drive the car to the bottom of the hill where its level. Its cheaper to replace a bent rim than it is to raise someone from the dead after being run over by a rogue run away car.Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter?Since your stuck on on hill, block the wheels with some bricks or something and make sure the parking brake is on good. Then, just loosen the lugs, jack up the car where the tire is, finish taking off the lugs, and put the new tire on and tighten the lugs back up. Please be carefull and take your time and all should be ok.Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter?Put it in park position and pull the hand break turn the steering wheel towards the pavement if the car is going downhill. Get your jack and spare tire. But before you jack the car make sure you loose all the nuts first. After you installed the spare tire lower the car tighten all nuts but don't use excessive force as it will damage the thread of the bolt for excessive tightness. Your maximum speed with the donut (spare tire) is only 50 mph. Remember counter clockwise for loosening the nuts.Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter?Turn the wheel round cos it is only flat at the bottom.Has anyone got any tips on how to change my flat tire. my car is on a hill. Does that matter?hmm not ideal but is it the front or the back either way take a couple of blocks (like house bricks or around that size) and place under the wheels that are not to be jacked up now place the jack ( if using a scissor jack that came with the car this is not ideal, buy or borrow a small trolley jack, you can pick them up for a tenner) raise it up to get a bite on the body and take the weight of the car loosen nuts on wheel then raise up the car to fit the spare and get the nuts back on and lower just so the wjeel touches the ground enough to stop spinning whilst you tighten up the nuts then let it down gently take away the blocks put naff tyre in boot an go buy a new tyre. happy days.

How do you begin rebuilding a car?

I don't know much about cars, only how to change tires, headlamps and tail lights, and checking the fluids. Do you recommend that I could rebuild a car or do I need some experience with car mechanics to try this? If so, what type of car do you recommend starting with? I do have a mechanical mind meaning that I usually can figure how something works once I take it apart. How do you begin rebuilding a car?Start simple, rebuild a lawnmower first. How do you begin rebuilding a car?Well, i know nothing about damage repair but to tune up an old car is very time and money consuming. Think before you do the task because you could be left with half a finished project and half of your money spent! How do you begin rebuilding a car?If you don't have any idea baout engines I'd say leave that to the prosHow do you begin rebuilding a car?You are getting in over your head.

The best engine to start with is an Old VW bug motor. They are simple and easy to work with. There are a ton of books and instruction manuals to help you along the way as well.

Plus, you will always find the parts you need. They aren't hard to come by. Also, you can even build it bigger as you rebuild it.How do you begin rebuilding a car?I would recommend an american classic. They are easy to work on and are lookers.

I have a 1980 corvette and it is a great car. You can get a nice one under 15k and the parts are cheap. There are also several places that sell every part of that car so finding parts is easy.

because you said rebuilding a car (not just the engine) I would start with whatever is broken. In an old classic there is plenty to fix.

As for rebuilding an engine take it to a pro if you want it to last very long.

stay away from more obscure cars till you get a feel for thingsHow do you begin rebuilding a car?Although the hands on is the best part of rebuilding a car. it takes alot of research as to what kind are you able to do and what is your budget.

I think a Chevy Blazer 4X4 70', 72' is the perfect start vehicle for anyone and I am partial to them as well. Plan on spending around 5000.00 for this rebuild not counting actual purchase of the truck. when your done and your sweat is dry you will have a great truck to show off.

Get a 400 cubic motor for it not the standard 350 it is a better choice. How do you begin rebuilding a car?I rebuilt my first car from the ground up when I was sixteen. I am not an automotive professional, just a tinkerer. I am currently on my eighth restoration. It has become my pastime. I always begin by dismantling and labeling the parts. Then when it is down to the frame or basic chassis, begin cleaning, painting, repairs, and reassembly. Take your time and get a good reference manual. Rebuilding the components your self saves lots of money and you kind of learn as you go. The only part I have ever sent out to be repaired was an automatic transmission. The rest I have done myself.

Then start out with smaller jobs, small engine repair like a lawn mower or something inexpensive so if you break something or give up the is no harm done. I wouldnt recoomend taking on the task of buying a second vehicle and just taking everyhting apart. Starting out tis will be overwhelming and the not only have you lost what ever money you have invested but you have a pile of parts that most likely go to ruin. Start out small, ask questions, the whole idea of restoring a car is exciting but not properly equipped with the right tools(knowledge or actual tools) will make it extremely difficult to the point that if you attempt a big project now and fail you may never want to attempt it again. But if you start out small you will build your confidence and mechanical knowledge to encourage you to take on more and more diificult tasks. Don't be discouraged and don't let anyone tell you to leave it to the professionals. What if someone said that to Davinci or Earnhardt. Two examples of people that are professionals but who haven't always been a professional. You could be one too one day with time, patience, and the willing to learn how things properly function. Good luck on your quest it is neverending. I know I am currently on my 13th vehicle and I am only 27. ThanksHow do you begin rebuilding a car?You need to ask yourself why you wanna do this. If you intend to drive it around Sundays or so, it's gotta be a looker and something you gonna be proud of when finished. That will be a motivation aswell.

Corvette is a good one to look at, fibre bodies are easy to repair and maintain, straight forward engine and mechanics.

Fibre is easy to respray and would have a more pro finish.

Go for it, you'll be suprised what you can achieve once you put your mind to it.

Involve your wife or girlfriend, it's twice the fun!How do you begin rebuilding a car?forget it until you learn more about cars or take a mechanics course, all it would do is really frustrate you and the project would be a total loss.

I know many Ford cars were equipped with those switches that were located in the glove box. When the Ford car was jarred by even a very small accident, or maybe flat tire, the fuel shut-off switch would disconnect to protect against a fuel leak in the case of an accident. I really don't know if your Malibu is equipped with one of these or not.

Car tyres - can anyone give me an idea of how often to change the tyres of my Nissan Xtrail?

It's a 2004 model, and I live in an area where the roads are sometimes not great.Car tyres - can anyone give me an idea of how often to change the tyres of my Nissan Xtrail?1st off, tires actually wearout, the best way to extend the life of your tires is through proper maintenance.

    a) tire rotations every six months or every other oil change

    b) front end alignment check once a year

2nd, your tires have wear marks imbedded in the grooves of the tires that look like raised bars between the grooves of the tread, if these are even with the tread then it is time for new tires.

3rd, if you live in areas that have rough roads, then you might want to check your tires more often.Car tyres - can anyone give me an idea of how often to change the tyres of my Nissan Xtrail? You have to look at the treaad on your tires. You could probably ask soemone at a tire place and they could tell you.Car tyres - can anyone give me an idea of how often to change the tyres of my Nissan Xtrail?Your tires life mostly depends on your driving so if your braking heavy and flooring it off the the line then 40k is all you should expect, but under normal condition(driving) the road doesn't really make the difference, you should get 55-70k and they should be effective right to the end..WITH ANY SUV..YOU GOTTA ROTATE.. every other oil change !!!

GilCar tyres - can anyone give me an idea of how often to change the tyres of my Nissan Xtrail?dependant on your driving habits and road conditions will affect how often or at what interval you will have to change them at. usually around 3-4 32nds of an inch of tread left is a good time to start to consider new tires. As well as occasionally checking for unusually tire wear, busted beltings or knots forming on the tire.Car tyres - can anyone give me an idea of how often to change the tyres of my Nissan Xtrail? If your treads are only 3/32 of an inch or less, you need to replace them (driving on normal roads) IF you drive on rough roads then the treads should be minimum of 3/16 of an inch.Car tyres - can anyone give me an idea of how often to change the tyres of my Nissan Xtrail?you should change them weekly send the old ones to me freight paid and I'll dispose of them for you

Question on changing tire in your car?

    hi

am feeling some kind of wobbing effect in my front right tire in my car...whenever i drive, or press the accelerator at a signal, i get the feeling as though something at the front right wheel,is pulling me to the right......

i checked with the local tire shop and they say seems like the tire might be bad ( i know some tire shoppers just lie, thinking i might buy a new tire,if they say that)...

so,how do i get this fixed.......if at all i have to change the tire, can i go for a used one....Question on changing tire in your car?The only real way to know if a tire is wobbling is to get with a friend and have them drive alongside you and observe the tire as it is in motion. If they see no wobbling, then you most likely an alignment is necessary.

If the tires have been on your vehicle without rotation for a while, they will actually show unusual wear in various places if your vehicle requires aligning. You can see diagrams that detail the unusual wear and tear at various tire places, like NTB, National Tire %26amp; Battery.

Also, if you see no unusual wear and no wobbling of the tire, your passenger-side suspension is the next thing to check. I recommend checking first the a-frame bushings, lower and upper.

Does the wobbling intensify while turning the steering wheel? If so, is it intensified on the right turn or the left or both? Another factor in the front of your car is the power steering column. Check tie rods for tightness. These are just a few ideas to take to a mechanic to diagnose a direct cause. If bushings need to be replaced, that will be the cheapest of all replacement items.

What vehicle do you drive? Front-wheel drive or rear-wheel?Question on changing tire in your car?Sounds more like you need a Front End Alignment and NOT a new tires.. Stay clear of places like Pep Boys and American Tire they will rip you offQuestion on changing tire in your car? There is a lot of things that this could be. Check the balance of the tire. Check the front alignment. Check the lug nuts.

It is possible that the front tire is bad, but I would stay away from a used one, only because you dont know any history on it. It could have come off of a car that was on fire and the tire is weak. I realize cost enters into this. Generally you want to replace both tires on that end of the car unless the other is pretty new. If you dont plan on buying one for the other side pretty soon, as it will accelerate wear on that tire.Question on changing tire in your car?Change the front two tires around, and then you will know its the tire if it pulls the other way. My guess would be its out of alignment or your tire pressure is low on one side.Question on changing tire in your car?You could have a bad tire, what some call a broken belt. one way to check is jack the car up so the front wheels will spin. then looking at the tire from the front of the car spin the tire as fast as you can, if the tire spin straight it is most likely good. if it has a wobble, it is most likely bad. Used tires are just that used. You take a chance anytime you buy anything used. I have good luck with used tires. I get them from a junk yard.Question on changing tire in your car?Depends on the condition of the tire. Is it properly inflated? Does the tread look worn. You can tell how your tire is turning by the wear.

Your car can be out of alignment and cause the wobble. If you do replace a tire, you should always replace two and put those on the front and the better ones on the rear.Question on changing tire in your car?Geeze!

Befoire doing all that crap, check to see if the bolts/nuts holding the tire in place are all tight.Question on changing tire in your car?check your tire pressure, esp. make sure the front ones have the same air pressure. If it still pulls it could be an alignment. How old is the car? You mentioned that when you accelerate, there's a funny feeling at the right front wheel. Does it make a popping sound when you turn corners? if so it could be a CV joint that's going bad. Need more info.

How do I change a tyre on my car?

One of my tyres is getting a bit bald and needs to be replaced with the spare. How do I change a tyre on my car? Before you jack up the car, loosen the lugnuts a bit on the tire that you want to remove. You may have to stand on the lugnut wrench with your foot to get them started. Then, jack up the car with the jack, and loosen the lugnuts all the way. Remove the tire. Replace it with the spare. Tighten the lugnuts. When tightening lugnuts, always skip a lugnut and do the one that is two spots over. You don't tighten the lugnuts on one side of the tire and then tighten the lugnuts on the other side of the tire. You tighten one, skip the next one, tighten the next one, skip the next one. Eventually, you tighten all five. Then, tighten them again. How do I change a tyre on my car?If it's still drivable, why even bother using the spare? Take it in and get it replaced. In those same 34 years I have never seen one go bald. Would you like to know why ? Because there is no such thing as a TYRE on a motor vehicle. But if your car has a tyre by all means put the spare tyre on. You might want to put your new tyre on a new weal. Also if your tyre is a bit bald you might want to take it to the Hair club for tyre.

I've got a spare, I just need instructions. =)Could someone explain to me how to change a tire on my vehicle?Do you have a jack? How do i change the tire on a 2006 range rover?

I have a 2006 range rover somebody said that before i jack up the car to change a tire i should shut off a suspension airbag switch or the suspension airbags will mess up is their such a switch? and no i don't have the manual i just bought it todayHow do i change the tire on a 2006 range rover?Just use the instructions on the spare tire cover. How do i change the tire on a 2006 range rover? You should definitely get a manual before you attempt any repairs. It'll save you headaches down the road. How do i change the tire on a 2006 range rover?Your control switch for the EAS has a 'hold' as the center button on the switch. That should lock it to the current height. If you leave your tailgate (or a door) open, this will disengage both the EAS and the leveling.

But if you are jacking the car up and the ECU cannot lower a corner by releasing air it assumes that corner is on a jack. It will inhibit height changes until the corner reverts to the height where this was detected, the rotary switch is moved to the up or down position, or speed rises above 25 mph for 3 seconds. But I would manually inhibit the EAS to be on the safe side. How do i change the tire on a 2006 range rover?Take it to Costco or WalMart and let them eff around with it. If they jack something up, then you can let them be responsible for it.

  • Should i change my car tyre?

i had my car motd 2 weeks ago

and it past with a few advisories

1 was that 1 of the tyres was badley perished and had a cut in the side wall.

and he also said theres still 2000 miles left in it????

how can you tell how many miles are left in a tyre

would it best best to get a new 1 now

thanksShould i change my car tyre?haha if its bothering you that much just change it nowShould i change my car tyre?If there's a cut in the sidewall I'd get it changed now - although I didn't think a car would pass it's MOT if the tyre had bad sidewall damage. Should i change my car tyre?if the side wall is cut id definatley get a new tyre you dont want a blow out on the motorway!

he may have said 2000 miles left in it but dont risk it! also if the police pull you your bu*****d!Should i change my car tyre?2000 miles isn't that far. I wouldn't take the chance. When you think of the cost of a tyre as against the cost if it blows while you're driving out on the open road it's a no-brainer. If you're still not sure, take it to a new tyre place and ask them what they think. I know they're probably gonna try to talk you into a new tyre but you can usually tell if they are telling the truth. Not worth driving around with it. You could kill yourself and/or someone else.Should i change my car tyre?Hi

If it is badly perished and has a cut in the side wall then it should have failed because it could blow out due to a loss of integrity in the perished and damaged areas.

Anyone who says a particular tyre has X miles left on it is guessing.

Tyres wear at different rates depending on a number of driving factors. Power steering wears front tyres faster than normal, as does incorrect wheel alignment and tyre pressures.

I would change your tyre (and your MOT tester!) ASAP.

    Very best regards

GeordieShould i change my car tyre?he was probably trying to tell you to get it changed within a few weeks but in reality if it does have any sort of 'cut' in a sidewall it should have failed its test.Should i change my car tyre?A badly perished tyre with a cut sidewall should NOT pass the MoT. I'd guess he's saying there's still some useable tread on it, but no-one can predict how long that will last. Go to a tyre depot, in fact several, and say what they say.Should i change my car tyre?Perished AND damaged? GET RID OF IT! Before it gets rid of you.

Has it once been the spare?

Especially on the front, don't run odd tyres by buying one. Replace a pair.

How often should i change my car tires?

i have a honda civic ex year 2003. and tires haven't been changed since. so it still has the original tires..which are firestone. the car only has 29500 miles. . . so i was wondering if its about time to replace the 4 of them. they have been rotated once last year

im thinking of replacing all tires for michelin ones, is this a good brand?

and some people tell me i still have tread, but some say i should change them soon. what should i do?

it still has some tread but i dont know if it needs replacement because they are 7 years old....any suggestions??How often should i change my car tires?replace them when the tread is worn out.....its not a time thing its just when the tread is gone replace them. Iv known some tires that get replaced every other year and some that last for a decadeHow often should i change my car tires?Tires have wear bars that will tell you when they need to be replaced. The bars will be a line of tread that is higher than the rest of the tread. It it is flush with the top of the tread the tires need to be replaced. Also you can go to any tire store and they will have a gauge to see how much life is left in your tires. as far as replacement tires go i would recommend kumhos because they are a good quality tire and cheep. How often should i change my car tires?I would go ahead and change them, if they still have a little tread you should be fine for a littlewhile, but it's better to do it now, rather than wait until you're on the highway or something, and you have a blowout. How often should i change my car tires?Cars are cool^_^

Can you help me change my car tires?

Ok so I had to buy a new tire for my car A few months later a had to buy another new tire I now have one new tire on the front passenger side and one on the rear driver side Does anyone have a suggestion on how to put both new tires on the rear of the car? Would it be safe to just jack up the right/left side of the car? Both front a rear tire at the same time? I know Id need to use jack stand for that I just want to know how safe is it doing that? It doesnt sound to safe for me Oh and I dont have a spare tire I can use for this Thanks! Can you help me change my car tires?as long as you secure the car it will be fine. As you mentioned you need to use a jack stand. You will also need to chock both wheels on the opposite side of the car, apply the emergency brake, put car in gear if a manual shift and in park if an automatic, and make sure you are on fairly level ground. Take your time don't try to jack it up to high or to fast. you just want it high enough for the wheels to clear the ground. But you need to loosen the lugs just a bit before raising the car that way you won't be tugging on the lugs and rocking the car while it is in the air.Can you help me change my car tires?Use the jack stand. That's what they're for. Follow the safety instructions.

Should women know how to change a tire or oil in their car?

Is their any other ladies out there who do? What are your thoughts?Should women know how to change a tire or oil in their car?yes, they should. Especially the tire. That way if you're in the middle of nowhere and get stuck, you don't have to wait around for someone to help you. questions on changing oil, email meShould women know how to change a tire or oil in their car?Hell yes. Women can be independent and not need men around to survive. It's not that hard at all.Should women know how to change a tire or oil in their car?We should know how to change a tire, check the tire pressure, check the oil, power steering fluid, transmission fluid, window washer fluid. Changing a tire isnt hard to do a little difficult at first but once you get the hang of it , it is pretty easy. I suggest you take a day and practice it. Have your dad or someone you trust there with you to help out when needed. To check and make sure you did it right take your car to a jiffy lube or any other place like that and have them check the tire that you changed to make sure your tire dosn't come off while you are driving.

I personally don't think it would help much to be able to change the oil, but changing the tire on a vehicle is a good skill to have in view of the potential frequency in which flats happen. The real truth of the matter is, though, a female with a flat will only have to stand by the flat tire with a distressed expression and some guy will offer assistance in relatively short order. Not sexist, just real truth. But I would want the lady in my life to be able to change a tire safely so she could avoid those offers of help with strings attached.Should women know how to change a tire or oil in their car?women should but are way to dumb to know howShould women know how to change a tire or oil in their car?yes cause what if there is no one else around and you have to do it yourself or wait a long time for someone to show up you will know how it is good to know

Changing car tires - tires wont come off?

I drive a 2006 Toyota Corolla. I rotate my tires every 6k. Every time I do, the tires are near impossible to take off. I spray WD-40 on it and beat the heck out of the tire with a rubber mallet. Eventually they come off. I drive roughly 160 miles a day so 6k is not a real long time. What is causing this and how do I prevent it?Changing car tires - tires wont come off?I would try sanding the hub and the inside of the wheel so they're rust-free, and then smear a thin coat of wheel bearing grease where they meet. Your wheel covers probably let in a lot of water.Maybe you could find some others that would keep it out better.Changing car tires - tires wont come off? When you put the tires on the car you should make sure to tighten the nuts in a star pattern, and to never tighten one all the way before the others. If you aren't doing this it could cause the wheel to not be on straight, which may be your problem. What are you using to put on and remove the lug nuts?Changing car tires - tires wont come off? There's a space between the middle of the rim and the axle contact where it attaches. Try a very thin automotive grease on that plate just on the spot where the middle of the rim covers. It tends to get stuck or even rust together in extreme cases.Changing car tires - tires wont come off?Try taking the lug nuts off first.

    Hope that helps!

Edit: I'm for real %26amp; I'm not the one who can't get the tires off my car.

Clarification, it's a beautiful thing.Changing car tires - tires wont come off?At the center of the hub is some rust I would presume. The center of your wheel is tight around the circle part of your hub center. (axle end). Spraying it with wd-40 would be okay if there is no rust. What happens is the rust will absorb the wd-40 and distribute it throughout the rust instead of the area you need it to be.

To avoid this problem, use a peice of rough - medium sand paper and work the edges of that area to rid it of the rust. Then lightly sand the inner/back side of your wheel to create a better fit upon your hub. Then spray a light coat of wd-40 and apply your wheel.

This step should rid your sticky wheel problem.Changing car tires - tires wont come off?If you are saying that it is very difficult to remove the tire and wheel from your vehicle there are several possibilities I can suggest. In the center of the bolt pattern on the wheel is the bearing hub which extends outward from the disk. It contains the outer wheel bearings. On some wheels the hole in the wheel is so close to the same size as the bearing hub that any rust or road grit that accumulates there will make it extremely difficult to get the wheel to come off the vehicle. The other possibility is that on some wheels the hole in the wheel through which the wheel stud extends is again so close in size to the stud itself that there is very little clearance. In either case, if this is what you find to be the culprit, you need to increase the size of the respective holes slightly or use a flat metal file and file around the hub close to the disk so as to provide the necessary clearance. A rounded file could be used (from the back side) on the wheel itself in the hub hole to remove any rust and debris again to increase the clearance. I wouldn't put any type of lubricant on these surfaces as this substance will only cause more grit and grime to collect in an area where you are already having clearance problems. If you clean the hub and the wheel each time you rotate the tires you should be able to avoid the problem you are currently experiencing.Changing car tires - tires wont come off? This is not a problem, this is how it supposed to be and is for safety and for your wheel to fit properly balanced. every once in a while I get a vehicle like yours and I have to kick and wiggle the wheel in order to be able to remove it, If you have the patience to sand the center of the wheel by hand and carefully doing it evenly for at least 5 minutes and then try it on and see if it makes a difference, if after trying for 5 to 10 minutes you don't see a difference then you should just leave it along and deal with it, instead, find the way to easier remove them every next time. Good LuckChanging car tires - tires wont come off?Blanderswake above is right on the money and has given the best answer. I put bearing grease on all the parts that meet and the lug nuts as well and never have a problem.

I have a Toyota and has been keeping the oil every 3000 miles. I clean the car, wash and wax the car. I change tires and keep them well balanced. Transmission oil change every other year.[ Look for sales add in your local paper]. another thing is to look for adds that say free inspection like brakes, a/c. battery. How can I learn to keep my car healthy and running for years?Oil changes every 3 months or 3-5k miles. Do tune ups. Only use premium/ultra gas. Don't get cheap oil changes from gas stations, buy your own oil (such as mobile synthetic 1) and oil filters and go to a shop and have them change it for you. Always warm up your car on a cold day until the meter is 1/3 to Hot or halfway. Change brake pads often. Do car washes often also, especially in the winter so parts don't rust on your car. Make sure the tires are filled every once in a while. Check up on fluids. How can I learn to keep my car healthy and running for years?Change transmission fluid as prescribed in the manual

    Change coolant every two years

Crawl under the vehicle, look for an adequate support for the jack, as well as the spot where the jack is %26quot;supposed%26quot; to fit into the car. Curse for about 3 minutes, cause the adequate support area is no where near the jack spot on the car. After finding the flattest roadside bolder you can find, very slowly raise the jack, allowing sway time in between lifts. Now it's time to get those lug nuts off. Before starting this find something sharp and immediately cut your hand. You may think this to be harsh and even stupid, but here's why. If you attempt lug removal without this sacrifice to the car gods, you will inevitably strip a lug, taring your skin in the process. So save the lug as it is important, the cut's a given. Grab the spare tire and move it into installation position. Lay it back down and raise the jack again as the new, inflated tire is taller then the flat one. Leave yourself plenty of escape room here. For in your haste to reach the correct height the jack will lose it's footing, crashing the car to the ground. Further wound your hand punching the car in anger. Grab your cell, call a wrecker and hope where ever you will stay the night at least has a decent bar and clean sheets.

How the heck do I get those lug nuts off the car so I can change the tire?

Yeah I am trying with the tools they supplied and turning counter clockwise. My 20 yr old Volvo has a flat in the garage and I got the hubcap off but can't budge the lug-nuts. Any ideas would be appreciated other than calling someone for help. I guess I am not that strong. I'm a woman and just can't seem to turn them. How the heck do I get those lug nuts off the car so I can change the tire?Do you have some WD40 around the house? Spray some on the lugs where they touch the rim. Let it soak for a few mins then try again.

There are anti-seize sprays on the market, like PB Blaster, available at auto parts stores. If you can get to a parts store like AutoZone, pick up a can and spray it on the lugs.

Usually the tools that come with a car are total junk. What you need is some leverage. HeheHow the heck do I get those lug nuts off the car so I can change the tire?I had some lug nuts seize on my son's car. Some genius Japanese car designer thought it was a good idea to use steel lug nuts on aluminum alloy wheels. Took me days to get the tire off. But here's what finally worked.

I got a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar and an impact socket the size to fit the lug nut. I used an impact socket because it is a 6 point socket which would be less likely to round off the lug nut. Also, an impact socket has a thicker wall thickness and was less likely to break.

I went to the home improvement store and bought a 6 foot section of black pipe. This is metal pipe, not plastic. I think I used 1 1/4 inch diameter pipe. You want something large enough to fit over the wrench handle but not too big.

I used the black pipe as an extension on the breaker bar handle to get some serious leverage. It took a lot of effort.

I replaced the frozen lug nuts with new ones.

  • How do you know when to change tires on your car?

I have an '01 Subaru Forester with ~68k miles on it. I drive ~12k a year, the bulk during the summer months. There's no obvious to me reason to change the tires but I'm not a mechanic either and I know everything has its limits. How can I know when to change the tires without some salesman swindling me into buying them prematurely?

Thanks. How do you know when to change tires on your car?Sometimes tires need to be replaced before they wear out bc of other problems you can't see. I doesn't mean you have to replace them it will be wise to have it in mind, especially if you drive longer distances or have kids you want to keep safe. The best thing to do is to go to the tire store or closest place that deals in tires. Sears, Pep Boys, tire discounters, even some Wal Marts have tires shops. Have them checked out professionally bc it is free. The guy will come out and look at all your tires and point out if there are any problems and maybe measure the tread depth and check air pressure if you ask them to and to see how much life is left on them. They may have damage that you won't or don't see and they will prob tell you and show you. This does not mean you have to buy tires at that time ever, but it will tell you if there is anything wrong with them to watch out for such as cracking, bulges, belt seperation, etc. There are many things that can go wrong with tires with daily driving.

Please have them checked out for your own safety and benefit. you can even go to two or more places to see if they say the same things. But don't tell them you went to the other place(s).How do you know when to change tires on your car?look at them..any tread???? put Lincoln penny head first into tread..if it touches his head ur okHow do you know when to change tires on your car? There are ware indicators in between the treads. They are little straight pieces of rubber between the treads and when they are even with the tread its time to replace the tire. How do you know when to change tires on your car?the tires will have %26quot;wear bars%26quot; that cross the treads and when the tires are new they will be deep inside the tread but when badly worn you can see them easily. when the tread is worn down even with them replace the tires. also if the tread on the outer edge is gone replace them even if the center tread is still good. it is from under-inflated tires or if you see cracks in the tire sides or tread replace them. that is called dry rot and the tires will blow out soon /How do you know when to change tires on your car?Every car tyre has what we call threads. The deeper the thread the longer the life of the tyre. Most tyres have little nothes of rubber fused in between these threads. These mark your legal limit. With your finger you can normally feel how much thread you have left. The more flat your thread feels in comparison to your legal limit the more worn your tire is. Never leave the tyre to actually reach the legal limit.....it is dangerous and illegal. Stay safe!!How do you know when to change tires on your car?WHEN THEY ARE FLATHow do you know when to change tires on your car?USUALLY, there are %26quot;wear bars%26quot; that run horizontally between the treads of the tires. When the surface of the tire is worn down even with these wear bars, you have approximately 3/32%26quot; tread left. Change them. The tread is not deep enough to channel water, nevermind snow or slush, away from the tires to prevent hydroplaning. If you can't find the wear bars, pick up a cheap tire tread depth guage at your local auto parts store or flea market. It's only a couple of bucks. Most tires come with 11/32%26quot; tread when they are new. If you are below 4/32%26quot; you are on borrowed time and you are about to run out of luck, possibly the next time it rains.

Changing car alloy's and tyres? I need help? How do you?

I want to change the tyres on my car, it is a rear wheel drive so I want to put thick wide tyres on the back. I only want 17%26quot;alloys but do I have to get special or certain alloys so the tyre can fit because the tyre will be wide and chunky?

I'm don't know how to explain it but that is the best I can do sorry.Changing car alloy's and tyres? I need help? How do you?It depends on the car for a start.

    As you say it's RWD I'm going to assume it's a decent sized car...so 17%26quot; shouldn't be a problem.

The tyre isn't going to be much wider than the rim...so the easiest option IMO would be to get narrow rims on the front and wide on the rear.

Without knowing the car make and model though I can't really suggest sizes to you.

I spose the other option would be to have something like a 255/55/17 and a 205/55/17....the 255 would be wider.

Best bet would be to talk to a specialistChanging car alloy's and tyres? I need help? How do you?If you don't know how to do it - leave it alone and get someone that knows waht they are doing to do it.

Do it wrong and you will change the handling of the car - you may also need spacers - you will need to check the PCD (Pitch Circle Diameter) of the wheels so that you get the right ones.

You may also invalidate your car insurance - be warned, this is classed as a modification.Changing car alloy's and tyres? I need help? How do you?You want to get in touch with a tyre shop that can tell you what you need to know. Wide tyres might be fun to look at but they're a pain to own - they can throw off the handling, WILL have a negative effect on your fuel mileage, etc.

But that's not what you're looking for - so get to the tyre shop. Find out what kind of offset your wheels have, so you know what to look for when shopping for your new alloys. Also do some measurements on how much room is inside the wheelwell, so you know how wide is too wide. Again, the tyre shop guys will help you here.Changing car alloy's and tyres? I need help? How do you?Yes you do have to change the alloys as well as the tyres. The width of the wheel much be suitable for the size of the tyre. I suggest you pay a visit to your local tyre place and ask them to look and your alloys and advise what size tyre is the maximum that will fit.Changing car alloy's and tyres? I need help? How do you?be cheaper to go to a tire store which can get most any type of wheel or tire that you need if you just got to order on line you best stay with what size you have .. if you know the brand name of wheels you want and what type of tires you wish to have...Changing car alloy's and tyres? I need help? How do you?I have never heard of tyres. What is it?Changing car alloy's and tyres? I need help? How do you? This is a very common question. The answer is YES to all questions having to do with whether or not you have to know something to put tires on a car. They make tires that won't fit under your car. Yes. You have to know how big the tires are that will fit.

So - the tire rack is a really good place to find out that stuff online. tirerack.com.

Heck just pay for it, its not that expensiveHow difficult is it to change tires on my car?Changing the tires involves safe practices. Mounted tires can be changed with a wrench and a jack. Tires alone are removed from the car while on the rims, placed onto a tire changer and replaced. This is a labor-intensive process. How difficult is it to change tires on my car?No! It can be done with tire irons, but it isn't worth the risk of damaging the bead on a new tire. Even if you can break the bead on the old tires, remove them from the rims, and get the new ones on the rims without destroying them, you're still going to have to pay someone seven bucks a tire to spin balance them. Bottom line is you'll have to pay anyways, AND you'll be missing fingers and a day of your life that you'll never get back. How difficult is it to change tires on my car? It's really impossible to remove your own tires at home and mount new ones. Visit your local tire shop and watch them at work, the specialized tools to remove and install a tire are all pneumatic and press the bead away from the rim. At home beating and pounding on the bead to break it loose would probably result in damage to your rim as well as damage to yourself. And once they're mounted you'll need them balanced as well. The basic tools alone would be many times over what a tire shop would charge you to do the job.How difficult is it to change tires on my car?Without the proper tools it is not possible. If you are buying new tires, most places will mount them for free. They will usually charge for balancing though.

How do I change a tire on my car?

I know the basics I mean I know you need to jack up the car obviously. But the tire is shredded and it looks stuck. Yes i am a woman and NO i don't have any one to help me. The wheel of the car kinda looks scraped but I dont think it is bent. Please advise I can't afford to pay someone to do it so i just wanna buy a tire and give it a whirl! thanksHow do I change a tire on my car?Not going to happen.

You need a press, which will fit the tire on the wheel.

Then you need a balancing machine, to make sure the tire is properly balanced on the wheel, or it will drive horribly.

Then the alignment needs to be checked.

None of which, can you do.How do I change a tire on my car?I think your best bet it trying to find a used tire place if your short on money. How do I change a tire on my car?Set the brake, loosen the lug nuts a turn or two and then jack up the car. After you get the lug nuts off, if the wheel is stuck, give it a good kick at the top of the rim, it should come off. Replace it with the spare, tighten the nuts. let it off the jack and then finish tightening the nuts, stand on the lug wrench if you can't tighten them enough by hand, just don't fall.

You will need to take the rim to a tire shop, Wal mart does tires in some stores, any of the national chains are pretty reliable.

It takes a special machine to break the tire's beads off of the rim. The shop will tell you if your rim is safe to reuse. How do I change a tire on my car?I'm guessing you mean how do you change out tire on the rim?

I have done this by hand but it's very hard. you will need tools that i'm guessing you don't' have. At very least you need 3 large screw drivers. When i did it i had %26quot;tire spoons%26quot;. You use soapy water and pry around the rim using each screw driver to hold the tire down. You have to have a lot of compressed air to get the tire to pop onto the rim or you have to get some type of winch and wrap around the tire to squeeze it out on to the rim to get somewhat seated so you can start putting air into it.

After that point it's still not balanced and you will have problems.

Cheapest way is to buy a tire on the rim off caigslist.

  • How to change a car tyre?

Remove the hub cap (if you have one); loosen and remove the lug nuts. Jack up the car, and take the flat tire off. Put the spare on and put the lug nuts on. Be sure to tighten the lug nuts alternately, so that the tire goes on straight. Lower the car until the spare just touches the ground but isn't bearing any weight. Tighten the lug nuts, lower the car all the way, and replace the hub cap.

Nuttin' to it ;-)How to change a car tyre? What is a 'tyre'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!How to change a car tyre? There are some subtle differences but basically they are all the same. If you have hubcaps, first remove it. Take the lug wrench and loosen all of the lug nuts. Don't take them off, but just break them loose for now. Once this is done, then jack up the car until the tyre is clear of the ground. Now take off all of the lug nuts and remove the tyre. Place the spare on the lugs and start the lug nuts back on. Get them at least snugged up hand tight. You may use the lug wrench to slightly tighten them. Now jack the car back down and then tighten the lug nuts fully. If you have 5 lugs on the wheel, start with one and then skip one and tighten the next one, skip one and tighten the next one, skip one, tighten one, and so forth until all 5 are tight. Put the old tyre in the trunk with the jack, replace the hub cap if you have put on a full size spare, if you have one of the mini spares then put the hub cap in the trunk with the rest of the stuff. And you are on your way.

It is a good idea to have someone who is familar with the process watch you do the first one and to make sure you are doing it correct. Then should you actually have to do it, you will have had the training. good luck. How to change a car tyre?1 loosen the nuts

    2 jack up the tire

3 unscrew the nuts completly and take off the flat tire

4 put the new tire on and screw the nuts altenative

5 lower the jack and remove it, then tighten the nuts pretty hard (but not too hard, especialy if you have alloys)How to change a car tyre?If you are able to loosen the nuts then here is the drill:

    1. Ideally the car should be parked on a hard, level surface, off the roadway. Don't try jacking up your car on a slope. It won't work. If on soft ground put a paver or block of wood under the jack but be careful and never go under the car.

    2. Get everyone out of the car. Make sure the ignition is off. Put the handbrake on and put the car in gear.

    3. Remove the wheel cover and loosen the wheel nuts.

    4. Place the spare tire nearby and under the car. This will help prevent damage if the jack collapses.

    5. Place your jack in position and jack up the car until it's high enough to take the wheel off and to put one with an inflated tire on. Know your jack. There are various types and they are used in various ways. This is something you should know about in advance.

    6. Take off the wheel nuts. A cross-armed wheel brace is best. Put the nuts in the wheel cover so you don't lose them, especially if it's dark.

    7. Take off the wheel gently.

    8. Put the spare tire on firmly in place and hand tighten the nuts back on.

    9. Tighten the nuts a little with the wheel brace.

    10. Lower the car, remove the jack and fully tighten the wheel nuts.

    11. Snap the wheel cover back on and put the faulty tire, jack, brace and screwdriver back in the trunk.

When you drive away with that nice feeling of successful achievement and suddenly the steering starts to wobble, don't worry. It's probably because your spare tire has not been properly balanced. You can get it done when you get your puncture fixed.

Spare tires are usually neglected things. They sit forgotten in people's trunks for ages. It's only when there is an emergency that people remember them. In fact, whenever you are having a tire change and balance, it's a good idea to include your spare tire in the treatment.

    A couple more tire tips:

If you find a nail or something in your tire, don't pull it out. This may quickly deflate your tire. The tire may run for ages with the nail in it but when you have time take it for a check-up.

If you have one of those teasingly slow punctures, you may not have to change the wheel. Try pumping some air into it and maybe it will get you home or to a service station.

Can someone give me information ( steps) on how to change a car tire? maybe a website or something...?

Look in the glove compartment of the vehicle that you need to change the tire on. The owner's manual is THE ONLY resource that you should use to find information on changing tires. Different vehicles have jacking points in different locations, if you do NOT put the jack in the proper spot, you may have the vehicle fall off the jack, or risk warping the frame. From this point it is very straight forward....

with the vehicle on the ground, slightly loosen the lug nuts

raise the car on the jack

remove lug nuts and keep them in order that you removed them

    remove tire and rim

    replace with spare

put lugs on in the order you removed them

tighten to owner's manual specifications.... usually 35 foot pounds torque

    lower vehicle

pick up equipment, drive to nearest rest area/store to wash hands

Hope this points you in the right direction, and like I said before, look at the owner's manual. If you're still not comfortable doing this yourself, get someone to help you. Good luck!!Can someone give me information ( steps) on how to change a car tire? maybe a website or something...?Check the manual that came with the car. Different vehicles may have different jack points and it would be spelled out in the operating manual. The manual would also have information on the tire changing procedure for that vehicle. Can someone give me information ( steps) on how to change a car tire? maybe a website or something...?Are you asking about changing tire on the rim or changing the tire/wheel assembly on the car ?Can someone give me information ( steps) on how to change a car tire? maybe a website or something...?you dont need a website.ill tell you how.first loosen the lug nuts then take a screw jack or hydrolic jack and jack up under the uni body and then take off the nuts and put on your spare and then set the lug nuts up then let the jack down and then finish tighten the nuts.hope i helped you.Can someone give me information ( steps) on how to change a car tire? maybe a website or something...?Put the jack under the frame of the car, or something strong. Jack it up till the tire is about 2-3inches off the ground. Unscrew the lug nuts. Pull tire off. Put on spare. Tighten lugnuts back on to the rim.I think you want to tighten them as tight as possible. Unjack car. Your done. Its easier then you thinkCan someone give me information ( steps) on how to change a car tire? maybe a website or something...?Make sure that your car is in park and the emergency brake is on. Get your jack and spare tire and make sure that it is aired up. Loosen the lug nuts on the flat tire. (You have a four way tool for this with your jack. It looks kinda like an X. ) Don't take them off yet, just loosen. Jack your car up.Be careful that you are on a sturdy surface and safely out of traffic.Finish taking the lug nuts off.Make sure you have jacked the car high enough to get the tire off. Remove the tire and place the spare on. Tighten the lugs but just snugly.Let the jack down and tighten the lugs completely, going in a crisscross pattern as you do so.(Don't tighten them in a clockwise or counterclockwise direction.) Start at top left - go to right bottom, right top, left bottom etc. Put your tools up and go! Hope this helps. You may want to practice with your jack as they are all a little different and sometimes go in different spots. Try it at home first just to get familiar with it.Don't wait and be caught in the dark alone trying to change a flat for the first time.
