How come the engine in my car becomes louder when I go over 40 mph or more?

I have a 2004 Chrysler Sebring , I just recently had an oil change I got new tires my brakes squeak I know I need new brakes shoes but what I don't know is why is my car sounding so loud when I go over 40mph any suggestions on what else I should have done to it?How come the engine in my car becomes louder when I go over 40 mph or more?for your safety sake fix those brakes a.s.a.p, as for the loud noise it could be your exhaust or bad connecting rod bearings, have it check.good luckHow come the engine in my car becomes louder when I go over 40 mph or more?Where is the noise coming from? if it's from the front of the car my guess would be wheel bearings unless the new tires are just noisy. If there were cheap $35 tires they aren't going to be as quiet as a set of $200 touring tires. How come the engine in my car becomes louder when I go over 40 mph or more?time for a new carHow come the engine in my car becomes louder when I go over 40 mph or more? Was it doing this before you had everything done?

Car help! im tired of being such a girl sometimes especially basic stuff..?

Is there a place I can go to learn how to change my own tire, and jump start my car, and put air in my tires, and really just the basics. Its sad that all i feel i know how to do is put gas in my car.. I dont really feel like learning from my husband and my dad even tho im 24 treats me like his lil girl and always wants me out of the way while he works. I mean id pay to learn stuff like that ya know? Is there anywhere i can look up to take classes on these things!?Car help! im tired of being such a girl sometimes especially basic stuff..?go out and get your self a good how to car manual with pictures and step by step procedure's then sit down and read.you will be amazed of what you will learn.Car help! im tired of being such a girl sometimes especially basic stuff..?I know you dont want it, but learning form your hubby or your dad is better than any class you could pay for. What they will, and could tech you, isnt from some boring textbook. Its real world, hands on knowledge. I was the same way with my wife. But i finally took the hint that she was serious about learning it, and every time i work on my vehicles, or my Harley, or any of my other projects, she's right there beside me, soaking it up. And to be honest with you, i love teaching her now. We've come a long way......she no longer refers to a brake caliper as a, and i quote, %26quot;calluhooper%26quot; HAHA Buddy up with em and soak it up. Good luck to yaCar help! im tired of being such a girl sometimes especially basic stuff..?I have never heard of any such course. Most mechanics courses you will not even get into if you do not know that kind of information. I would suggest maybe looking up the info on youtube.com these are all simple things. I would suggest you tell your husband or father you would like to know these things. You are not a little girl anymore and the knowledge you are trying to acquire would get you out of a jam one day on the side of the road. I have taught many how to do those things plus how to change oil, check engine coolant, and even check the oil too. I do not know where you are located but if you were close by then this would not be so bad. I have never charged anyone to learn these things.Car help! im tired of being such a girl sometimes especially basic stuff..?Usually your local community college will have a basic automotive course. Also you may want to check with the service department of the make of car you are driving. They will show you how to check the fluids and tire pressure. By the way, go to a auto parts house (Advance Auto, O'Reilley's, Autozone) and get a digital tire pressure gauge. They are the easiest to read and cost about $10.Car help! im tired of being such a girl sometimes especially basic stuff..?Do you have any guy friends that can show you? Maybe an uncle or something. Im sure there is someone you know that would be willing to show you how to do these things. If not just explain to your dad that you really want to learn how to do these types of things and to have patience when showing you. My dad took me out one day and went through everything with me when I turned 16 and got my car. Just take a day and go through the steps in changing a tire, checking your oil, and airing your tire up. I found its really not that difficult. I do everything myself.....I even replaced my own headlight and changed my oil. I really don't know of any place that gives classes. Good luck!!! : )Car help! im tired of being such a girl sometimes especially basic stuff..?If you really don't want to learn from hubby or father. Go to an auto parts store and ask them. They will get you a tire pressure gauge and then will show you how to use it. They will also show you how to check fluid and they can explain how to put air into your tire. all for the cost of the tire pressure gauge. Just ask and they will help.Car help! im tired of being such a girl sometimes especially basic stuff..?if you really want to learn and don't want to ask your dad or husband, go to you tube or metacafe, there's a lot of video on 'how to'

How do I repair a flat tire?

I've just noticed my car has a flat tire on my driveway. I know how to change it out but how do I go about repairing the flat? Do I need to pay a mechanic to seal it or is there some way for me to do it myself by buying a sealant at the store, etc. Thanks in advance. How do I repair a flat tire?you can use fix-a- flat sealant to seal small punctures. if you can find a nail, screw, etc. you can remove it and put a plug in the hole, however this takes some mechanical ability. another possibility is a bad valve stem. sealants can't fix this. it must be replaced by a pro. try the sealant first,it is the easiest method to try at home. How do I repair a flat tire?fix-a-flat works as a temporary fix, but you still need to have the cause

repaired. remember to tell the repair person that you used fix-a-flat!How do I repair a flat tire? The easiest way is fix a flat or you could take the tire off, inflate it find the leak (spray with water and soap and look for bubbles) then patch it your self or take it to a tire shop and have them do it for you.How do I repair a flat tire? The best way is to have it removed from the rim, and have it

patched from within the tire, you can either use the spare as the

new tire ( which probablly won't match ) or use the repaired tire.

The old method just doesn't seem to be very acceptable anymore.

Especially with all the new tire designs out there. Forget about

any of the %26quot;canned magic %26quot;. That's good for a temporary emergency,

if it even works in one at all.

Good Luck.... $ 20-35 bucks should do it . with a balance incl. How do I repair a flat tire?DO NOT USE SPRAY SEALANT!!! I wish they would just outlaw that junk. Take your tire to a tire shop and have them find the leak, and repair it with a plug patch. Not a plug, and not just a patch. A plug patch will fill the hole and apply a patch at the same time. If you use spray sealant you make it so any kind of repair is harder to do and not as reliable. How do I repair a flat tire?you can take it to a tire shop and have it fixed. it could be leaking around the rim, a bad valve stem or you picked up a nail somewhere. why don,t you carry a couple of cans of fix a flat in your trunk.

Is it a good deal to buy this car?

1995 Nissan Altima GLE with auto transmission rebuilt by AAMCO because of fluid leakage, timing belt not changed, new tires, new batteries, a noticeable dent at the front-driver's end and the interior has unclean floor mats.

miles driven:87K

Asking price: 3750$

Car is in san jose, california. I would really appreciate your help if you could tell me a price to negotiate and valid reasons like how much will it cost to fix the dent/timing belt etc.Is it a good deal to buy this car? It's worth about $1400-$1800. Fixing the transmission isn't going to increase the value of the car.

The car doesn't have a timing belt, it has a chain. Unless it's making a rattling noise, it should never need to be replaced. I've had Nissans over 200K miles w/ no problems on the timing chain. Is it a good deal to buy this car?as much as I am partial to nissans, and that this car has relatively low miles due to the body work and replacing the timing belt, I would not recomend buying this car. I would check craigslist.org most of the time if you spend enough time looking you will find a great deal on a newer car.Is it a good deal to buy this car?Take a look at this site and see what that car is actually worth.

The lug nuts on my tyre are too tight to take off with my socket wrench, any ideas on how to get them off?

I don't know much about cars but I have to change a flat tyre myself as the car doesn't have insurance and can't be taken to the shop. Would there be a tool that i could use to make it easier to take the lug nuts off??The lug nuts on my tyre are too tight to take off with my socket wrench, any ideas on how to get them off?If your lugs are too tight I would advise against using a ratchet on them! Get a breaker bar instead an a 6 point socket that fits and then use a piece of pipe that can slip over the tool handle (preferably a pipe that is 3' - 4' long gives you better leverage) and then remove it in a counter clock wise direction. ratchets can get pretty expensive and shouldn't be used on a really torqued down nut, after you break it free a ratchet can be used on it safely..The lug nuts on my tyre are too tight to take off with my socket wrench, any ideas on how to get them off?Get you a short piece of pipe that just fits over the lug wrench (called a cheater pipe). The pipe should extend about 18 inches over the end of the wrench. This allows more leverage in breaking the lugs free. Be sure to tighten the lugs back down (better than hand tight) when you put the tire back on. I made sure my daughters have one in the trunk for their tire problems.

Dr. Tommy SkeltonThe lug nuts on my tyre are too tight to take off with my socket wrench, any ideas on how to get them off?Use a cheater pipe. It's just a piece of pipe that can slip over the end of the ratchet increasing your leverage. Don't lift the car until you break the lugs loose. The lug nuts on my tyre are too tight to take off with my socket wrench, any ideas on how to get them off?Usually there on there too tight for a socket. Use some sort of pipe to lengthen the socket so you can get more leverage. The lug nuts on my tyre are too tight to take off with my socket wrench, any ideas on how to get them off?use a impact gun when its off the ground or a cheater pipe on the car/truck when is on the ground.

  • What has happened to men?

Im not but 25,so im no old guy or anything, but the men i see these days are not men, and im not talking about opening car doors or pulling the chair out for a lady, im talking grow *** men that have no clue how to change a tire, change oil in a car,put a mailbox up,fix a leaky roof and the list goes on and on....have we gotten that soft? if so were in trouble. What has happened to men?LOL!! I have noticed this too. I blame increasing urbanisation and an increase in the number of white collar jobs. Men don't have the traditional skills and they don't pass them on to their sons.

We have been taught to outsource all our %26quot;menial%26quot; jobs...but as you say...what happens when we need to know how to do things.

personally my father was very competent at this sort of thing and since I was the son he never had he taught me many of them. So I am quite able to change a tyre for a man and have done it on more than one occasion.

Though I must admit that I lose all interest in a guy once I have swung a door for him or changed the oil in his car!! ROFL!! They may get home after the breakdown, but they don't get any further with me!!

My own husband is very handy. It is one of the reasons I fell for him!!What has happened to men?glad you think these things matter! i'm glad my hubby is not a metrosexual myself. What has happened to men?I kinda agree with your question but I can't say that they're all the same. My BF, for example, doesn't know how to do some of the handy stuff around the apartment but it's not because he's lazy or is afraid of getting his hands dirty (lol). He just never learned how. His dad is the same way. While my dad can fix just about anything. It really all depends...What has happened to men?Well, my dad doesn't know how to do that stuff (though he'll tell you he can), but that's just because he repels any type of handy man stuff. You know Tim the Toolman Taylor? That's what my dad is like. My brother, however, can do most of that stuff. I don't really care if my husband can do any of that though...RA is for changing tires, I don't want to deal with the laws of getting rid of motor oil, so don't be changing oil at my house... I don't think the %26quot;handy%26quot; factor makes a man. I think the character is what makes the man.

LC-BWhat has happened to men? You're right.

I'm 27 and I can't do any of those things. I can barely wire a plug.

I'm not proud of that btw.

How can I learn? What has happened to men?I know what you mean and I think I am a partial victim of this condition. I'm now 28, but as a kid I was too busy playing Nintendo to watch my dad work on the car and fix roof. I think technology has something to do with it. Probably some laziness as well. What has happened to men?Its time all these soft, urban males take control of their own world and realize that in the event that society or the economic world falls apart, you WILL be sunk and drowning in a shallow pond if you have no worldly skills.

Skills like carpentry, building a home, pouring concrete, roofing, repairing an engine and other mechanics, wiring, how to grow a garden, drill a shallow well, or even just change a tire...will make the difference whether you survive or become a fatality. Secondly, wouldnt it be smart to know how to do anything other than how to turn on your video games? Or are you proud that's the extent of your survival skills? What has happened to men?I no they just wanna go to the mall and get a hollister shirt and text like little girlsWhat has happened to men?Not completely. My step dad works hard at stuff like that fixing things around the house, holding doors open, etc. these new generations today are obsessed with things that they dont really care about-they rather pay for it to be fixed than get something done themselves. Men who do things and aren't lazy have been brought up right by their elders. What has happened to men?Nowadays there's always someone you can call to do those things for you, I guess that's why some men don't know how to do it. Everything is just so easy...but I agree with you, it's good if a man can still do those things, but even women should be able to change a tire and oil, the basic stuff.

How safe is a 'donut' tire?

I just had my tire changed to a 'donut' tire because of a flat. I bent the rim on the old tire, and need to get it fixed, but it will be several days before I can replace it again.

Will it be safe to take my car on a highway and where I have to drive at 65mph? Also, it is currently snowing in central NJ. Is it safe to drive in the snow?

I just need to know if I need to drive differently until I get the tire repaired. How safe is a 'donut' tire?you should stay off the highway as much as you can and if you do have to drive on it try to keep it below 65 also if the donut is on the front I would recommend you have it rotated to the rear so you have 2 full size tire on the front this way if it did happent to blow you wont loose control of steering thats what we do at the garage I work at.How safe is a 'donut' tire?yes if you do need to use it a few days keep your speed down. Its not meant for that but, if you have to ....oh well. Just be careful. How safe is a 'donut' tire?drop your speed and no quick turns i went 1 month on a donut tire becasue they kept ordering the wrong rimHow safe is a 'donut' tire?i had to drive on one for 3 days 2-weeks ago... I wouldn't advise going over 80km (I'm not sure what that is in miles per hour)... It's fairly safe and I didn't notice a big difference while driving.

Just be extra cautious when driving. Not only is the tire thinner... but if you pop it.. you don't have a spare. How safe is a 'donut' tire?hi i am also from nj. i had one on my car not long ago i would NOT do 65mph stay in the slow lane.

What could be wrong with my car?

I drive a 2000 Saturn SL2. I took it to get a routine oil change, tire rotation, etc. over a month ago. The guys told me that it was in severe condition and that there was coolant coming out the back of the motor and there was a severe leak in my radiator and that my car wouldn't last a month. They told me to get it to someone asap to get it looked at and fixed.

I took it to a shop over 2 weeks ago to have it check out. They ran a diagnostic and concluded that I needed a new water pump. After the guys at the other shop had pitched a fit about it being super severe...it was a water pump? I couldn't take my car back to get it done because I'm financially unstable at the moment, but am hoping to get it fixed soon...now just today, i was sitting at a red light in 80 degree weather [which isn't good on my car, i know], and my radio flipped off...then came back on, then i noticed my internal lights were dimming and flashing, then as soon as i started to accelerate, it wouldn't do it. then it did. it's a continuous on and off type scenario with this car. It overheats one minute, works the next. I assume the lights dimming and this and that happening is the battery?

Also, yesterday, my heater quit working...I had been blowing the heater on full blast with the weather being so gnarly and my car leaking coolant to try and keep it stable...because I was told to do this.

I swear I'm not ok with driving my car around and the more I drive it the worse it's getting. I can't keep doing this. What could be going on with my car? And how much would it cost?

Should I just junk it and buy a scooter? ://What could be wrong with my car?Things to consider:

The guys doing the oil change didn't take a serious look at what is going on, so it may have looked much worse than it was just glancing things over. Anytime there is a leak, it can %26quot;spread out%26quot; until you actually start to wipe things down and try to track down the source. Don't hold it against them that they thought it was severe...you should be glad they pointed it out at all since that's not what they were doing in the first place. They had your best interest in mind...think about it...they had nothing to gain from telling you because they weren't going to do the repairs, right?

The water pump could be leaking, which can cause the coolant to get all over the place like I mentioned above...so, yes, it could just be a water pump problem. As far as the electrical issues, I don't know if this is what is happening, but spraying water/coolant and electrical components (alternators, etc.) don't really get along. If you keep driving around with coolant leaking that most likely is getting thrown around by the belt(s), you're probably going to have some problems in that area.

As far as overheating sometimes and not during others, when you're sitting at a light, the car is going to get hotter because no air is being forced through, but when you are driving, you are forcing air through. This could also indicate that there is something wrong with the cooling fans...guessing this car has electric fans, which could be malfunctioning. If they are, sitting still will be much worse than driving because the fans aren't keeping things cool in the radiator like the moving air is while driving.

You didn't say exactly how the heater quit working, but if the %26quot;heat%26quot; part of the heater quit working...meaning it's not blowing hot air anymore, but still blows air...then the coolant is not flowing through the heater core anymore, which probably means there is no more coolant or not enough anyway. If the fan motor quit, that is completely unrelated to this except it may have just been worn out because you've been blowing it on high speed during hot weather and it's not that new. The reason you were told to run the heater is to keep things cool, but that doesn't make sense in this scenario. That would help remove some of the heat from the coolant if your fans weren't working or something like that, but for a leak, it just doesn't make sense.

It's not a surprise that it's getting worse. If you haven't already done so, you WILL be doing serious damage. Consider running a marathon and not being able to sweat to keep your body cool...you would literally die...so will your car.

How much will it cost???...if you keep going, more than the car is worth, but if you quit driving it and get it fixed, it may not be outrageously expensive. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Where is the proper jacking points of my a/t Corolla 95?

I don't know how to change tires, i know details but i haven't really changed a tire yet. I somehow know how to use the jack but I don't know where to put it below the car. I NEED PICTURES of it.Where is the proper jacking points of my a/t Corolla 95?You place the jack under the door hinge pillar at the pinch weld...this is where several layers of sheet metal are welded together...for the rear, place jack just ahead of the rear tire, again on the pinch weld. If you had a mirror on you shoe, and stood up against the side of you car, you could see the pinch welds.Where is the proper jacking points of my a/t Corolla 95?Look at your manual. It should show you step by step what to do and where to place the jack.Where is the proper jacking points of my a/t Corolla 95?The car's manual should have this information on this or an sticker on the rear trunk that explains where to do it . It is commonly known that you use it on the middle part of the car under the frame(behind the front wheel or in front of the rear wheel ,they may have notches in the bottom of the car body that is your car jack lifting points.

Below is a page with pictures as where you can place it

My car won't turn over or run. What's going on?

I asked a question earlier this month about my car's problems. Here's the original post:

    %26quot;I drive a 2000 Saturn SL2. I took it to get a routine oil change, tire rotation, etc. over a month ago.     Should I just junk it and buy a scooter?%26quot;

NOW there's more stuff going wrong with it. :// I haven't been able to take my car to get it fixed quite yet because I'm STILL working on this financially unstable thing I have going on, but I haven't been driving it at all. It's been parked since I posted the last questions over 2 weeks ago. I went outside just now to try and crank it and it turned over a bit, but eventually just quit altogether. I don't think it's my battery...but I'm not for sure.

The repairs are gonna cost a little over $300 for the water pump issue, but would THAT have anything to do with why my car isn't starting at all now? And about how much do garages charge for towing fees?My car won%26#039;t turn over or run. What%26#039;s going on?starting you car will not be affected by a water pump, it sounds to me that you either have a dead battery or a bad alternator. Try to see if you can jump your car from someone else then take it to any local auto-parts store they will generally run a battery and alternator check for free. The battery is needed to crank the car, the alternator is basically like a small generator that recharges your battery as your car is running. If your alternator is bad your battery fails to get a charge and will die slowly over time hence the flickering lights and partial turning over of the motor. They aren't terribly expensive but it might be a couple hundred depending on the model. Hope this helps, best of luck to youMy car won%26#039;t turn over or run. What%26#039;s going on?your battery is dead. When you cranked it this morning, there was a little juice left but by the sounds of it not enough to engage the starter. Try turning your lights on...or your radio. If there is no electrical power running through your car (with the engine turned off) then it's your battery. Get a boost from a neighbour, and go for a 20 minute drive. If you notice the lights dimming while you are driving...then you probably have a bad alternator. My car won%26#039;t turn over or run. What%26#039;s going on?With all the lights flickering, you might have an electrical issue like a wire that is shorting out.

The diagnostics on that can be pretty quick, or it can take a long time, that is also likely why your batter is now dead.

    Good luck.

(Scooter might not be a bad option)My car won%26#039;t turn over or run. What%26#039;s going on?if you drive your car without a water pump you will burn up the whole engine your eletric system sounds like your engine got so hot it burned some of your wiring or wiring harnesses in your electrical systemMy car won%26#039;t turn over or run. What%26#039;s going on?Your water pump has nothing to do with electrical problems.

    1. Dead battery,

    2. Shot alternator.

    3. Electrical short.

    etc.

Not getting enough coolant to your engine will cause it blow REAL quick. My car won%26#039;t turn over or run. What%26#039;s going on?i would go with the above guy you have a dual fault do not use the car till you replace the water pump it could flip and do more damage like radiator core split, also as its a 2000 car i would replace the raditor as it,s furred upMy car won%26#039;t turn over or run. What%26#039;s going on?First off, replacing the water pump is going to do you no good at all. if coolant was coming out from the back of the engine, chances are you either had a torn or loose hose which was leaking the coolant. If they meant that coolant was leaking into the engine, then you have a faulty head gasket and this would most certainly make white smoke come out of your exhaust. The head gasket itself isn't expensive at all (about $30) but the labor that is required to replace it is a bit heavy. If it indeed was your head gasket, driving it around like that would most certainly cause lots of damage to the engine and eventually deadline it and the cost to bring it back up to driving conditions would be a very nice, shiny penny. I'd estimate easily about $300 on parts alone, labor being a totally different and higher charge because now you're talking about taking the engine completely out and rebuilding it.

As far as your radiator, if it's got a severe leak, more than likely you'll have to replace it because successfully patching up a radiator is very rare. a radiator would run you somewhere between $45-120, depending on where you go get it (discount auto parts store, big-name auto parts store, etc). The labor that goes into swapping out your radiator is minimal, but as usual shops will charge you a leg for almost any job.

Towing fees are rather high, unless you have roadside assistance on your cell phone plan, which covers $60 of the towing fee and you pay whatever is left on the charge. I've used this service quite a bit and find myself paying about $12 for a 15 mile tow.

As far as your lights and radio dimming out, more than likely you have a faulty alternator that's slowly giving out. Your alternator is what keeps your car running once it's started and also recharges your battery. If it's going bad, then you're running your car by using your battery alone and that'll drain the battery really fast. You can recharge your battery by taking it to an auto parts store. This is a free service and usually takes about 1-2hrs to complete. However, recharging your battery isn't going to do you much good if the alternator is going out. You can also have your alternator checked for free, but it has to be removed from your car. It can't be mounted onto the engine, since they hook it up to a computer inside the store to check it. A replacement alternator will run you about $120 and if your battery is no longer any good (the store will tell you if it's good or not upon completion of the recharge) you're looking at about $50-90 for a new one, depending on what quality you get.

In the end, unless your financial situation takes a big turn for the better or you have a friend that's skilled and proficient in mechanics and would take on this high-responsibility task, I'd suggest you look around for that scooter. What you spend on repairing your saturn you can easily invest in a scooter and know that it's gonna get you from point A to B with reliability in mind.

Good luck and i hope things turn out well for you.

I would really appreciate your help if you could tell me a price to negotiate and valid reasons like how much will it cost to fix the dent/timing belt etc.Is it a good deal to buy this car?Hmmm, somewhat surprised at the responses here, I have been in the car business all of my life and am curious about all the deals many of you feel you can get, I'm no nissan altima fan however we aren't talking about Cavaliers, Escorts, Sunfires, Contours Mistakes Neons Corsicas etc, etc, this is a well made car with a decent reputation with about 7250 miles a year put on it which is half the national average and even better for a California car. I guess we are all allowed an opinion, and mine is that with the info you provided it is not a bad deal, you could do much worse. But what the heck do these comps straight from KBB.com All with same miles, comparable equipment, good condition, private party values.

    Altima $3950

    Corsica $1875

    Neon $2280

    Lebaron $2885

    Camry $4790

    626 $2975

Just my opinion, good luckIs it a good deal to buy this car?very high, i bought an 86 lincoln for 2300 dollars that had 80,000 miles. And it also didnt have any dents or defects. Personally I think that is a rip off. I live in San Jose and that seems awefully high. I wouldnt pay more than 2500 because it is 10 years old, has body damage, and under the hood has issues. Is it a good deal to buy this car?check the blue bookIs it a good deal to buy this car?are you my son showing dad u can doo it all alone?

ok be stupid its your callIs it a good deal to buy this car?3750? That's very expensive for the car !!

If have dents, problems under the hood, even 87k miles sounds like a bad deal to me.

You should look to other cars. I know the San Diego and LA area and you can get cheap cars there.

But you may try www.craigslist.org look for you nearest city and then cars%26amp;trucks.

Good luck!Is it a good deal to buy this car?the car retails for $5700 yes good bye good luckIs it a good deal to buy this car?that is too much for that particular vehicle . 2000.00 keep shopping

Is there such a thing as a car modifying program?

You all know how when you go to play most video games that you are capable of changing paint and tire and wheel combos. I would like to be able to do this with out the games but on my computer. Is there such a program to do this?Is there such a thing as a car modifying program? Not sure of the chassis end, but there are a number of dyno programs that you can put in the specs on motors and see simulated results.

I want to build my first car; is it possible?

Okay, so Im a 15 year old girl, and I want to build my first car. I have basic, knowledge on engines, and tires. ( I.e., how to change oil, change tires , and a couple of other miniscule things.) but thats it.

I found a great car the other day at a junk yard. No rust, just typical wear and tear for cars that are out there.

I do have a uncle whom, could help me occasionally along with my bestfriends brother who works on cars. but for the most part it would only be me.

So I want to know, if it's possible for me to learn to build one; and to actually build it? and just how much would it be? Average Cost, with a simplistic engine, and paint job. ( The model is a classic ford)

Please and ThankYou :]I want to build my first car; is it possible?Go for it girl!! Just take the word %26quot;can't%26quot; out of your mind, you can do anything you want to. Everybody started at the same place your at. Just don't let it overwhelm you. I's not rocket science. If you plan to do the labor yourself and with the help of friends that will save you a ton of money. At 15 I would suppose you want to do this on the cheap and use it as a learning curve. First of all, mark everything you take off the car and take as many digital pics as you need. Don't expect to remember where everything goes and as a first timer it's better to be sure where it goes and how. If something has to be taken out a certain way, remember that or write it down so you will remember the little trick of how you got it out, it'll take the same trick to get it back in. If there isn't any rusting then you won't have much body work to do. Has the car been wrecked? Does it run, how well? Does the transmission shift? Wheels and tires, what shape? Why is it in a junk yard? That would be my first question. You might want to get your uncle to look at the car since from what you said he has some experience with cars. Go on the internet and order yourself a Summitt catalog, a Speedway catalog and Jegs, they are all free. Find a Shop Manual for the specific car you buy, Chiltons is the best. There are plenty of forums on the internet where yoou can get information. I wish I knew what kind of car it was, that would be a big help. If the engine is in rough shape don't pay too much for the car, remember you will have to get an engine from a junk yard and rebuild it or orger a crate engine which you can get basic OEM around 1500. All I want to do is let you know that you CAN do it. Just use all the resources you need to get information. Everything you know now you had to learn, Right? Then what makes you think you can't do this? Cause your a girl? That's an excuse not a reason. I don't know If you can contact me again but I sure would like to keep up with your build. I'm a old rodder and it's just great to see oug people taking an interest in the hobby. I have a 1966 Chevrolet, that's 43 years old. Pretty old huh? No fuel injection, no emission controls and a very basic wiring system. Just love the old cars, you can work on them. Get into fuel injection and these engines that run by computers and I'm done. I wish you the best of luck, and never ever forget, You Can do it.!!I want to build my first car; is it possible?about $8,000 because the enginge is really expensive and the paintI want to build my first car; is it possible?People often confuse possible and probable. Almost anything is possible, probability depends on a number of factors. What kind of shape is the car in? If its mechanically sound, great, but it takes more than shade-tree knowledge to keep an older car running. I say older because you called it a classic. Also what do you mean by %26quot;build%26quot;? Returning the car to the road is one thing, restoring it is another. Its expensive and takes time, but don't let your gender stand in your way. Take auto classes at school. Sometimes they let you bring your own car and work on it, class project style. Got a lot of free work done on my Chevelle that way. Good luck.

Mechanic ripped me off! Where can I take a course to learn how to fix my own car?

Hi all...any advice on where I can take a course to fix my own car...no matter what the problem. Brakes, check engine light is on, rotors, changing tires...all of that stuff?

Do I have to take a course at a technical college or something to become a mechanic? OR can I just go to the local community college and get a quick run-through about how to repair automobiles? I do know how to do the simple stuff like, change a tire, install/remove a battery, and change the wipers...that's elementary stuff. Where can I learn how to accomplish the difficult tasks?Mechanic ripped me off! Where can I take a course to learn how to fix my own car?yeah, wyo tech was a good start but still quite incomplete, your local community collage is a good place to start.Mechanic ripped me off! Where can I take a course to learn how to fix my own car?Firstly you can go on the internet and look for step by step instructions on how to fix more difficult projects. Look for videos, pics, documents, ect. There are schools you can search for known as trade schools where they teach you about automobile repairs. It's not going to be a %26quot;quick run-through%26quot; but it will be worth it if you dont want to get ripped off anymore.Mechanic ripped me off! Is it ok to get used tires put on my car??

I need 4 new tires, but I dont have the money to get it done. There are some places that change your tires with used tires for much cheaper. I do drive alot, but I might be getting rid of the car in a few months also. Is it ok to put used tires on it instead? How long should they last? I have a 2001 pontiac aztek just in case that matters. ThanksIs it ok to get used tires put on my car??Used tires may be okay if there is enough remaining tread depth, if the tires were not from a wrecked car that slid into a curb or something like that ( which may have damaged or weakened the sidewall ), they do not have irregular wear, and as long as the tires are fairly new ( the rubber in the tire does have a shelf life, most tire experts say that tires are good for approximately 5 or 6 years but will begin to harden and crack after that ).Is it ok to get used tires put on my car??yeah its fine.Is it ok to get used tires put on my car??It's perfectly fine. I know a guy that buys tires off of wrecked vehicles and he only gets tires if they're close to new. So I pay 23$ per tire that are just as good as brand new. Is it ok to get used tires put on my car??yea ull be totally fine. make sure u put the best tires on the front if you hav front wheel drive or on the back if you have rear wheel drive...if u have all wheel drive make sure u use the best four u can find...dont forget to get them balanced too! i learned that the hard way :S

hope that helpsIs it ok to get used tires put on my car??Just make sure that there are no defects and that there is enough tread for the amount of driving that you will do until you get rid of the Aztek. Your best bet is to find a large facility that sells and installs custom rims. Usually customers who buy newer vehicles and want to customize their cars will buy a set of rims in which they need a different sized tire. Therefore, they will trade in the original tires (which are usually in top condition) for the new ones. The larger and more specialized the facility the more tires and size varieties they will have in stock. Is it ok to get used tires put on my car??Till there's no major problems with them like if they are bald or close to being bald. They don't look warped or what not. Things like that than it shouldn't be a problem to put used tires on your car.Is it ok to get used tires put on my car??As long as the tires are matching pairs it should be fine. If you can't get all four the same brand %26amp; model tire(of course all the same size) try to get the fronts as a pair and the rear as a pair, never mix %26amp; match front tires as different tire brands give different handling qualities and you may experience a strange driving vehicle.

Question about afermarket tires and rims?

my car is currently on stock rims which are 16%26quot;. I am wanting to change to 22%26quot;s.

I know how to change tires myself.... If I change from 16 to 22, will my car need any adjustments? the new wheels will already be an approved fit and completely balanced and ready to be put on.

does the car itself need anything done, or can i switch from 16 to 22%26quot;, and back?Question about afermarket tires and rims?A sure way to tell if those will fit is trust in the seller, sounds like they will fit if the seller of these has done all the measurements and has actually had these mounted on the same model car as you have. Ask if any modifications have been made to the suspension or the body.

If you trust the seller then go ahead and do it.

You can measure the diameter of your wheel and see if it comes close to the diameter of the rims your trying to get.

The width and offset come into play here as well. The offset is going to be different with wider wheels than factory wheels.

I really like the look of the deep set hubs. You may want to go with some smaller rims and more meaty tires if the car is a daily driver. If its a fun car and you only use it on the weekends or at your car club. Go crazy!

If the wheels fit you shouldn't need to do any other modifying.

But an alignment isn't a bad idea with new tires, It helps them last longer and track straight.Question about afermarket tires and rims?without knowing what type of car it is hard to say but you will need to check that the tire is not rubbing anywhere the tire size may also affect your turning. bigger and or wider tires make it harder to turn in small areasQuestion about afermarket tires and rims?there's a chance your car might need to be realigned if you go to big. it's always recommended when you make those kinds of changes to your car. otherwise, it probably won't affect your car adversly. most people don't get an alignment cause it's not neccessary. there are place you can take it that have lifetime alignments for a one time fee. I would shop around. otherwise. it shoud be fine. good luck.Question about afermarket tires and rims?more than likely, you will need to do some adjustments to the suspension and the brakes to handle the bigger tires and rims. the tires will most likely not fit in the wheel wells without some type of lift. plus you have to upgrade the brakes to handle the extra weight.Question about afermarket tires and rims?Your probably running rubber band tires that are really thin Don't get near any curbs or pot holes.

    you'll trash an expensive rim.

Sounds like a custom job your fooling yourself if you think you can just slap these on and go.

by all means buy them and enjoy living in fear of every crack and imperfection in the asphalt.

Go with a different size rim and tire those huge custom rims are for show cars and big suvs with the rubber to protect the rims. Show cars are driven once a month and live in museaums with overprotective owners

Go with a slightly smaller rim and a little more side wall if you want to drive this every day.Question about afermarket tires and rims?Remember that you have to change the tire size as far as aspect ratio goes. You have approximately three inches less clearance around the wheel well.Question about afermarket tires and rims? The only thing you have to worry about is the rubbing of the tires when you hit bumps. If 22's are too big they will rub and wear really quick. Also like the guy said before me it is hard to say when you didn't say what type of car it is. I drive a 2000 granprix. I have 16's and if I put 22'2 on it the tires would rub when I turn! If you really want to put 22's on you will have to give your body a lift which can be expensive.I would just say stick with 16's.If they rub then there is a chance they will pop and who knows when they pop...You could be driving down the highway when they go and then you'll be screaming and praying to god!!Question about afermarket tires and rims?We must know the year make and model of your car before establishing the fact that such %26quot;big wheels%26quot; will fit. You can go to the tirerack.com website, enter wheels then the year make and model of your car. Up will spring various wheels guaranteed to fit your car. To top it all off a picture of your car will be displayed with any of the wheels that will fit the car. When in doubt give tirerack a call @ 1-888-541-1777. Which ever wheels you choose you'll need new tires to fit them. You can always switch back in the Wintertime by installing the original tires and wheels.

I'll be perfectly honest with you. I've never seen 22%26quot; wheels on a car before. Trucks and SUV's possibly, I doesn't seem there would be enough room in the stock fender-wells for wheels and tires to turn or ride over bumps.

When should I change my tires?

I took my car in for an oil change today, and they did an inspection of all the fluids and stuff. The guy said my tires were at 50%. He said I didn't need to change them just yet, but I should keep that in the back of my mind because I would have to do it relatively soon. So how soon is that? How do I know when they really DO need to be changed?

    (I put a LOT of miles on my car, so it's important to keep it in good shape. But I don't want to waste $500 if I have a lot of wear left on them)When should I change my tires?%26quot;Got a Lincoln penny? If you do, you've got the perfect tire gauge. The %26quot;penny trick%26quot; works because the distance between the rim and Lincoln's head is 1/16 of an inch -- the minimum required tread depth. When your tire tread is lower than 1/16 of an inch, your vehicle can develop handling problems.%26quot;

I have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?

2.What is the correct tire air pressure?

3.How often should your car檚 oil be changed? What kind of oil should you specify? Do you need a new oil filter also?

4.How much per year will your insurance cost when you get your license? How much will it go up if you get in a $5000 accident that is determined to be your fault?

5.What are the recommended maintenance services for a car and when should you get them, and how much would they cost approximately?

6.What do collision, comprehensive, uninsured motorist, and liability insurance cover? What are the insurance deductibles? (this might be personalized im not sure)

    7. What should you do if there is smoke coming out of your hood?

I am getting my license soon, and my dad wants me to know all of this information before i take my test, any help would be appreciated! Thanks!I have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?1.Ultimately you should not drive on a flat tire, but if you must no more than 1-2 miles at very slow speeds about 2-5 miles per hour. A suggestion is though buying some run flats, they are a certain type of tire you can drive on even when flat though they are expensive.

    2. The correct tire pressure is found on your vehicles door jamb( drivers side) not the tire like many people would think.

    3. If you use full synthetic every 12000 miles is good if you you use regular oil( non synthetic) every 3000 miles granted this is if you dont drive on dirt roads or in dirty conditions. If so every 3000 miles. And yes you always need a new oil filter

4.Insurance varies on age driving record and now more recently credit rating.....oh also type of car. No matter the cost of the accident it will go up!

5.Every car will be different but if you take to a credible maintnence shop or garage they will have a maint. schedule for your specific car, costs can vary from $40-$80.

    6. That you need to ask your insurance agent.

    7. Stop and turn off the engine and open the hood if you have an extiguisher use if not get away.I have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?1. depends on the tire if its new or old and if its run-flats or tubeless etc.

    3. depends on your oil if its fully synthetic or ordinary. ordinary, every 5000 km.I have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?1. If it's totally flat, maybe 50 feet.

    2. ... Depends on your car. Seriously. Look it up in your manual. If you have NO idea whatsoever and you just had to fill up your tires, go for 35PSI or so.

    3. ... Depends on your car as well, and what conditions your drive it in. 5000 miles is reasonable, getting synthetic vs. dino oil is up to you, but try to stick with what the car's already been getting. Yes, you should change the oil filter too.

    4. It depends on whether you are male or female, your age, the car, where you live, etc. Ask your agent. A totally random estimate is $1500 for a 16-year-old in LA county driving a 96 Accord. Part 2, depends on your company too.

    5. A lot of maintenence. Your manual will be able to cover it better than I ever will.

    6. Collission covers money when you are at fault and pays for yourself and your own car. Comprehensive cover stuff like your car being stolen, etc. Liability is only when you are at fault and only pays for other people's damages. Dedectible means the first x dollars that you don't get money for (say you need $4000 because of an accident, if your deductible was $500 you'd only get $3500)

    7. Stop driving. Don't open the hood. Check your temperature gauge, etc. Call for help.I have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?1. Not long at all depends on speed if your going fast and tire is copmpletly flat it will go fast road conditions affect it too. Way to hard to tell but i dotn expect one to last longer than a few minutes at like 30 MPH.

    2. On your drivers side door or where your door opens on the drivers side is a sticker that tells you that. i think like 32 PSI is a usual.

3.Conventional oil every 3 K miles. Whatever your car uses. and Yes filter needs to be changed.

4.Too hard to tell you need to specify what car how old you are and every insurance is different with the rate they increase it if you at fault.

    5. Again look at your manual every car is different.

    6.Talk to your insurance agent.

    7. Pull over and turn off your car.

p.s. Your dads a freakign weirdoI have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?1) Zero inches.

    2) It says it on the tire, in small letters somewhere it will say %26quot;MAX PSI: __%26quot;

    3) Every 3000 miles, use the factory oil viscosity, yes.

    4) Varies based on where you live. A lot.

5)Varies based on the car. A Ferrari has more service intervals at a higher cost than a Ford Focus, for example. Call the service department at your local dealer and ask.

    7) Stop driving the car, get it towed to a shop.

I regret answering these questions now that i read the last line, you should have had to look it up yourself.I have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?1.not very long, in fact very short distance before it gets damaged

    2.depends on the tire

3.3000 miles or 3 months, depends on the car, you get a new oil filter every time you change the oil

4.depends on gender, car, company, in a 5000 dollar accident it will go up alot

5.when you get ur oil changed they ask you for different services like transmission service or air filter services. they cost different prices

    6. collision is if your car gets damaged and its your fault your insurance will pay for your car, comprehensive is your insurance company pays for acts of god like deer hits or hail damage. uninsured motorist is if some uninsured guy hits your car your insurance will pay for it, and liability is if you hit somebody your insurance will pay for their car only. deductibles are how much you pay for damage to your car before the insurance pays

    7. stop the car immediatelyI have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?#3. Look into an extended drain synthetic motor oil like Amsoil and you only need to change your oil and filter annually. This is also more environmentally responsible. Everyone's going to tell you 3,000 miles, but read an eye-opening article on the subject at my website, http://www.number1synthetic.com -- click 'Other Links'. Europeans have been on 10,000+ mile oil changes for years!

You can also click 'AMSOIL Online Product Guide' to enter your year, make, model, and engine to get a list of Amsoil synthetic lubricants and filters for your vehicle.

Good luck!I have some car questions: 1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?1.How long can you drive on a flat tire before damaging the rim?

Never ever drive on a flat tire (one that is noticably flat) it is just not a safe thing to do.

2.What is the correct tire air pressure?

correct air pressure if i remember right depends on the tire/car

3.How often should your car檚 oil be changed? What kind of oil should you specify? Do you need a new oil filter also?

Dependig on how old your car is the oil will need to be changed ever 3,000-5,000 miles (newer engines can go a bit longer and be fine) or every 3 months which ever comes first. The mechanic will know what kind of oil to use on your car, brand doesn't really matter much but the type depends on your car. when the mechanic checks your oil he will also check the air filter to see if it needs replacing, usually he will ask before hand if this is alright (mine always does) and if he has permission to change it if needed.

4.How much per year will your insurance cost when you get your license? How much will it go up if you get in a $5000 accident that is determined to be your fault?

Insurance is very variable. it depends on the insurance company its self, how old you are, what kind of car you drive, how much you drive, and where you live are the major ones. You need to speek to an insurace adjuster to figure these things out and to get an estimated rate. you can also seach for insurance companies online and get a free quote from them. it will give you an idea of what your payments will be but may not be exact.

5.What are the recommended maintenance services for a car and when should you get them, and how much would they cost approximately?

Again depends on your car and how old it is. i would say as long as you keep your oil changed and all the fluids in your car where they are supposed to be and you don't have any problems with then it doesn't really matter. But as soon as you notice something wrong get it checked out right away! that is the most important thing. it could be something small but you ignore it and it becomes bigger.

6.What do collision, comprehensive, uninsured motorist, and liability insurance cover? What are the insurance deductibles? (this might be personalized im not sure)

Collision insurance is if you are in a collision(accident)

uninsured motorist is if the person who hits you doesn't have insurance and it is their fault your insurance company will pay to have your car fixed.

Liabity is if you are in an accident and its your fault your insurance company will pay for to fix the other car but not yours.

Insurace deductubles are what you have to meet before your insurance company will pay

    7. What should you do if there is smoke coming out of your hood?

If there is smoke comming out of your hood turn the car off, get out and get away from the car as fast as your feet will carry you and call 911.

You can technically wait till you get to the wear bars on the tire. If your about half through the tread, than double the mileage that you put on them to get an idea how much more time or mileage you have. When should I change my tires?Just keep an eye on the wear indicators

    2) It says it on the tire, in small letters somewhere it will say %26quot;MAX PSI: __%26quot;

    WV tie rod worn out?

I took my car to a shop, had them change 2 tires, now my car is super loud, my friend told me it might be the bearings or the fact that they didnt balance it after they changed my tire. The tire shop, says i need a new tie rod, which i will happily change but why all of a sudden, did my tires start to get so loud after the fact i changed my tires there? i'm no genuis but i know how to change tires, and it shouldnt have been a problem at all. help, are they trying to scam.WV tie rod worn out?Easy enough to check out. Jack up the front of the car, have someone hold the tire on one side while you try and turn the wheels back and forth by moving the other one. If there's any play you need a tie rod end, if not you don't. Excess play can also come from a worn steering or idler arm too. VW front ends are pretty simple won't take but a couple minutes and a good flashlight to spot any weak links.

Sometimes a different tread pattern will make more noise than another. Also if the noise increases when turning one way or another you could have a bad wheel bearing.WV tie rod worn out?You do not state if the tires are new. If they are not it is possible that they are cupped from the previous vehicle. Also if you are using a snow tire with a more aggressive tread pattern then the noise will increase quite a bit. Tire balance usually manifests itself as a vibration rather than a noise. The tie rod story does not wash for tire noise, that usually shows up as a %26quot;wandering%26quot; condition while trying to maintain straight ahead driving. I would be looking in the area of tread pattern as being the cause.WV tie rod worn out?a tie rod worn out? i don't think so! it would be the ball joints that are at the end that could cause this....unless the tie rod got bent(i doubt it) so it would be the ball joints that got worn out.....something sounds fishy and its not your momWV tie rod worn out?Your question does not make a lot of sense...putting or exchanging tires will not make noise.......no front end parts are touched when tires are changed....what gives here???

I doubt changing a tie rod will stop much noise....it sure did not break while it was in the tire store!!!!!

Go to Midas and have them check it out.......they are a very reliable, honest shop.WV tie rod worn out?loud? may be the tread pattern of the tires making it loudWV tie rod worn out?hold wheel at 3 %26amp; 9 o'clock, and wobble, have other person observe tie rod joints-any movement ==dead. many shops charge extra to ballance wheels, cheapos don't do it=steering wobble. Loud==knock or roar? knock= mech fault, roar= tyre noise-unsuitable/cheap tyre-poor design, too wide etc. Passenger outer tie rod end wears first btw.

Car repair: what is a good cost to repair a front engine seal leak, timing belt replacement, rear seal leak?

i have a 1998 toyota camry. i dont know much about cars and rarely get bigger work done on my car since it hasn't caused me many problems - mainly brakes, tires, and oil changes. i just came from the deadlership (i got an oil change, tire rotation, and new brake pads/rotor reface) and they told me my car:

    - has a fluid leak

    - has a front engine seals leak

    - needs a new timing belt

    - has a rear main seal leak

im pretty clueless about cars and always feel like im getting ripped off! how serious are these issues, which are most important to address first, and what are resonable costs for these repairs? about a year ago i was informed of some of these issues and they haven't cause any problems yet. i dont drive that much -- about 50 miles per week with the occasional road trip a few times a year. the car is getting old and i anticipate getting a new one in the next year or so, so i dont want to spend a lot on maintenance that's not ABSOLUTELY necessary to the life of the car....i just don't want to end up stranded on the side of the road! thanks for your advice ahead of time.Car repair: what is a good cost to repair a front engine seal leak, timing belt replacement, rear seal leak?peaches, I had similar problems with my Chevrolet Equinox and last month. Get a free auto warranty quote and see if you can get the policy before you need to get your car fixed. http://www.simpleautoquotes.com/Auto-Warranty.htmlCar repair: what is a good cost to repair a front engine seal leak, timing belt replacement, rear seal leak?me and my family own a 1998 toyota camry as well. as of now it is in the shop for an oil pump leak and a broken timing belt. the mechanic told me that he charges $300 for the timing belt replacement. when they replace the belt the front seal is right there so the cost of the seal is all that should apply. as far as the rear seal, the transmission and torque converter must be removed. not sure of the cost on the rear seal. the timing belts should be replaced at or around 90,000 miles. it has been a great car and have owned it for 5 years now and this is the biggest problem to date. we love the car. the 4 cylinder engine is known to go for 300,000 miles beofre a major overhaul is required.Car repair: what is a good cost to repair a front engine seal leak, timing belt replacement, rear seal leak? The timing belt would be the most important. To replace the front main seal would require removing the timing belt anyway. When replacing the front main seal, the rear needs to be changed at the same time to prevent doing the same labor on the car again (removing the oil pan). The fluid leak can be fixed any time and has nothing to do with the others.

My advice, no more than you drive, keep oil and fluid in it and keep driving for a year. If you are really concerned about being stranded, just change the timing belt.Car repair: what is a good cost to repair a front engine seal leak, timing belt replacement, rear seal leak?well the dealer isn't selling cars they need your service to keep it going. the timing chain is only recommended at the miles set to change it,in most cases these out last most cars..if your auto isn't leaking alot i would just leave it. use slick 50 or some motor oil to help seal seals

What should i do about my ridiculous neighbor?

I live in a small town, have lived at the same address since 1992, and get along with all of my neighbors, well all but one of them. They moved in about six and a half years ago, and when they first moved in somebody keyed their car and for whatever reason they blamed me, and took me to court and I ended up having to pay for restitution for the damages that were done to their car that I didn’t even do. I never really figured out how they were able to win that case because they had no proof, or witnesses saying I did it and really, truthfully, I didn’t touch their car. They just went into the court room and told the judge that they thought I did it, but didn’t give a reason as to why they thought I did, and I told the judge that I didn’t but somehow they still won the case. After that settled down, there weren’t any more problems between us until about a month and a half ago. Every time I open the hood of my car or jack it up they call the cops on me. They claim that there is a town ordinance stating that I am not allowed to do any kind of mechanical work on my car of any kind. ( we all park on the road in front of our houses ) I went to the borough building and asked for a copy of the town ordinances and they told me that they didn’t have any copies of the town ordinances for themselves, let alone additional copies. Conveniently for my neighbors they happen to be related to one of the highest up people on the borough council, who also claims that there is an ordinance about this but he can’t come up with an actual copy, or any kind of proof of this ordinance either. I think its outrageous that these people are gonna move in and try to tell me what I can or cant do on the street that I’ve lived on for over 10 years longer than they have. I mean I don’t do any kind of major mechanical work on the street, I will change my motor oil, or change my brakes, or if my tire goes flat I put the spare on and take the car to the tire shop. Last Thursday I was changing my brakes and it was 6pm and the neighbor came outside and started taking pictures of my car and of me and when I asked her what she was doing she just said “ what you’re doing is illegal and now I have proof ” and I asked her what she was talking about and she told me about this ordinance that she claims my town has and then she started yelling at me and was saying that her husband had to work the midnight shift that night and the funny thing was it was 6pm and he was there standing about 10 feet behind her fully clothed. I said to her that its 6 o clock in the f***** afternoon and her husband then started screaming at me saying that there’s an ordinance against cussing too and that he’d “ have me arrested right now “. Maybe I shouldn’t have sworn at her but I was mad, she had no reason to bother me and I wasn’t being noisy at all, I really don’t even know how she knew I was out in front of my house because I was being quiet and it bothered me because they know that there are people that live in my house that consistently work at night and have to sleep during the day, but they haven’t ever showed any consideration for anyone at my place who needs to have time to rest. Then, on tuesday I had a flat tire so I put the spare tire on and went to go to the tire shop and I didn’t even get a mile from my house and my passenger side rear wheel started to make this grinding noise and I was afraid to drive it any further so I turned around and limped it home and took the wheel back off and they called the cops on me. This was the first time that an officer actually came to my house and when he got there he asked me what I was doing and I told him and he said to just try and get it back together as quickly as I could and he said that he didn’t understand why the neighbors were making such a big deal about the whole thing. So, I got it back together and went down to the police station and asked if there really was an ordinance about working on my car, or changing a flat tire and the officer said that he hasn’t heard of anything like that and that he couldn’t find it and that he had talked to the chief of police earlier about what to do about the complaints that my neighbors keep making and the chief said that he’s not aware of any such ordinance and that he wouldn’t worry about it until it was shown in writing. Also, while I was down there the officer told me that these people call and complain all the time about me working on my car. He said sometimes they get 4 or 5 calls a day about it when I hardly ever do that much to my car. They must call every time I pop the hood to check my oil or something because I don’t actually work on the car that much, but I almost always check my oil before I leave home. Then, yesterday I got a $223.50 citation in the mail for disorderly conduct-unreasonable noise dated for 08-29 at 5am and it said on the citation that I was working on my car and banging on stuff and revving my engine. That is such bull****, I wasn’t working on my carWhat should i do about my ridiculous neighbor?Living halfway across the World, even i want to punch the daylights out of them. I have no idea how you actually ignored them for so long. I would have punched the guy in the head and slapped the lady on the face.

If i were you, i would take legal action and appeal the citation. What should i do about my ridiculous neighbor?Harassment.

    File against them immediately.

Contact the police office who constantly gets their calls.

Get a restraining order. It will force them to move.

Also, if you have a videocam, start taping your truck out the front window at night. What should i do about my ridiculous neighbor? It sounds like something funny is going on at town hall, especially if you think your problem neighbors are related to powerful people there.

The answer you got when you asked to see the ordinance was outright obstructive. You have a right to see that ordinance. May towns have their ordinances on the internet at the town site. Often a copy of the local ordinances are at the public library. If a copy is not there you can ask your librarian to see if he/she can get a copy the public can see.

You can also go in with a written freedom of information request (or whatever your state calls it) You can search online for what laws your state has regarding freedom of information, and which apply to local government.

And you got a citation in the mail for something you allegedly did almost a month ago! That really does sound like someone in town hall is abusing power to help your neighbors harass you. They would have to prove that in court, but you already found out that your local court does not follow normal rules of court. Demand a hearing but also demand a change of venue to a different town.

  • RC Car Suspension Racing Question...?

I have just purchased an Associated 12R5.1 1/12th scale RC car. I was wandering, on a medium grip carpet track, where or how soft should I make the middle spring to get maximum traffic for the rear-end? I race in the 13.5 Lipo class and we get to speeds of around 45mph going down the straight away. I am losing traction coming out of the sweeper and the car just comes around? How should I fix this (I cannot change tires as they are mandatory in this class that everyone runs the same tire compounds). Thanks!RC Car Suspension Racing Question...?That is an excellent question. If you are running the base setup of the R5.1 then you probably have the gold or red spring on it. At our track which is also a medium grip carpet track we try to run as stiff of a spring possible for maximum steering and corner speed without causing the rear end to spin out in the corners. Try to run one spring softer.

So if you have a copper spring on now - then go to a red spring in the middle. If you are running a red spring, try a gold, etc. etc.

You shouldn't have to run anything lighter than a gold though.

    That should solve your problem.

How can i best handle this situation? Wal-Mart Screws up my car?

Today I went to walmart for a oil change and to repair my flat tire. I took my car in today at 10am. I told them what i want done and they said 45 minutes. A hour passes and they haven't even worked on my car. About a half hour later they call me and told me that my flat tire i brought in can't be fixed because the nail is in the side wall and they are not allowed to do it. I said ok and I bought a new tire. It is past noon and finally my car is done. I pay for the tire and oil change and it is $140 bucks. So I grab my keys and go home. They tossed my flat tire in my trunk without telling me and left a 5 qt empty bottle of motor oil in my car as well. Then to top it off as im driving home white smoke is coming from my car. I get home and find a bunch of oil spilled across my engine bay thus causing my engine to burn the oil on top. I called the walmart immediatly to speak to the manager and was on hold for 45 minutes! Then they told me that they are on lunch and to call back! I took piHow can i best handle this situation? Wal-Mart Screws up my car?I'm sorry this happened. I would've been rather pissed myself!

Your first mistake was to try to call on the phone. You KNOW this doesn't get resolved over a phone!. It's going to be hard, but the trick is to GO TO WAMART and honestly be pissed and persistent. When they realize that you are a problem that won't go away, they will try to offer some sort of resolution.

Be firm, but don't get yourself arrested!

Good Luck. How can i best handle this situation? Wal-Mart Screws up my car?ok heres what you do take your photos to your local television station talk to a reporter tell him what happened to u then if your story is good enough they will send camera crews to that walmart and will expose them as being ripoff artists. you can also file a lawsuit against walmart you may win lots of moneyHow can i best handle this situation? Wal-Mart Screws up my car?Call the store back and ask for the number for the area's District Manager. I would also contact your state's department of motor vehicles and raise a stink. This was a poorly done job for so much money. I would also not have the second rate grease monkeys at Walmart touch your car again. Get your money back from them. How can i best handle this situation? Wal-Mart Screws up my car?First of all... Why does anyone even shop at WAL-MART? The only thing you can count on in WAL-MART is crowded aisles, trashy people dragging there kids by the arms and LOW prices because WAL-MART bullies the manufacturers into getting the best prices - some of which they pass along to the consumer. I won't step foot inside a WAL-MART.

    That's my soap-box.

OK... Take the car back to them and tell them you want the following at a minimum.

Remove the trash from your car and dispose of the tire (You may have already paid the disposal fee).

Have your engine and engine bay steam cleaned. This is a must or it will collect dirt and grime from now on.

Get your money back for the oil change at a minimum, or for the entire job at a maximum. This is for the trouble you will have to put up with while you take your car to get it steam cleaned.

By the way, steam cleaned does not mean washed at a local car wash. You do not want to give your electrical system a bath!

Good luck, and... stop shopping at WAL-MARTHow can i best handle this situation? Wal-Mart Screws up my car?Boycot walmart, they are so rude. the service is poor all the time. Just stop shopping at walmart. That's why I do my own oil changes. It only takes a few minutes and you don't have to worry about making a mess of your car. You may need to talk to a lawyer.

I have (and I'm not saying you necessarily do) a disorder called Asperger Syndrome. This is a disorder on the high-functioning end of the autistic spectrum.

Part of this disorder deals with social misconception; difficulty getting along with and understanding others, making friends and interpreting body language.

People with AS also have marked excellence with verbal skills unlike those with lower functioning autism.

How do I change the second row of back tires on a Ford F-350 Dually?

I usually park my cars behind my gate. But last night, just for kicks, I parked my Ford F-350 on the road. This morning I walk down the driveway to get the mail and I notice the rear end was unusually low! Someone slashed the second row of rear tires! Do the same for the other side. When re installing the duealy rires, make sure that both tires on one side are the almost exact height, like two new on one side and the two old ones on the other side. The inear tire will olso have to be unbolted. TomHow do I change the second row of back tires on a Ford F-350 Dually? Why on earth would you buy one if you don't know how to change the tires? This vehicle is a: 1991 MERCEDES-BENZ 190E 2.3

    Questions:

    1. What is this broken piece called?

    2. What does it do and is it the reason the car makes sounds at this tire?

    3. How much does it cost to fix?

    4. Can my friend fix it herself since it appears to just use large bolts?

And finally if you look at this picture: http://hidebehind.com/71C875

Can someone tell me how to take off the tire of this car...I tried using a socket wrench and correct size of socket on this bolts you see in this picture but it doesnt seem to come off. It is as if those aren't really bolts and are just for design...My friend has never changed her tire before so she doesn't know either. It is as if the tire is locked on...Do mercedes vehicles have a special locking systemPiece Broke off behind Tire after Hit %26amp; Run -- What is it [PICTURE INSIDE]?Your friend reported this to her insurance company when it happened, right? Is she covered? If so, the insurance will help her to get it fixed. If she isn't covered, she still needs to stop driving, call the tow truck, get it to the shop and get it fixed before she causes any more damage.Piece Broke off behind Tire after Hit %26amp; Run -- What is it [PICTURE INSIDE]?This the lower control arm that connects the rear spindle and independent suspension to the frame. It's an easy fix.

To be absolutely sure no other suspension pieces have not been bent have the rear end of your car aligned after replacing the control arm.Piece Broke off behind Tire after Hit %26amp; Run -- What is it [PICTURE INSIDE]?I don't know what that bar is called, but it looks like it got moved during the hit %26amp; run. It may very well be whats causing the noise when your friend turns corners in her care. It looks like the bar might rub on the metal wheel (the rim) when the car is making a turn. I can't tell you how much it will cost to fix it. She can take it to a Benz dealer, they will probably charge her just to look at it, that cost can be taken off of the total cost to fix the car, should she decide to have the dealer fix the car.
