i had my car motd 2 weeks ago
and it past with a few advisories
1 was that 1 of the tyres was badley perished and had a cut in the side wall.
and he also said theres still 2000 miles left in it????
how can you tell how many miles are left in a tyre
would it best best to get a new 1 now

When you think of the cost of a tyre as against the cost if it blows while you're driving out on the open road it's a no-brainer. If you're still not sure, take it to a new tyre place and ask them what they think. I know they're probably gonna try to talk you into a new tyre but you can usually tell if they are telling the truth. Not worth driving around with it. If it is badly perished and has a cut in the side wall then it should have failed because it could blow out due to a loss of integrity in the perished and damaged areas.
Anyone who says a particular tyre has X miles left on it is guessing.
Tyres wear at different rates depending on a number of driving factors. Power steering wears front tyres faster than normal, as does incorrect wheel alignment and tyre pressures.
I would change your tyre (and your MOT tester!) ASAP.

Especially on the front, don't run odd tyres by buying one. Replace a pair.
