I don't know much about cars but I have to change a flat tyre myself as the car doesn't have insurance and can't be taken to the shop. Would there be a tool that i could use to make it easier to take the lug nuts off??The lug nuts on my tyre are too tight to take off with my socket wrench, any ideas on how to get them off?If your lugs are too tight I would advise against using a ratchet on them! Get a breaker bar instead an a 6 point socket that fits and then use a piece of pipe that can slip over the tool handle (preferably a pipe that is 3' - 4' long gives you better leverage) and then remove it in a counter clock wise direction. ratchets can get pretty expensive and shouldn't be used on a really torqued down nut, after you break it free a ratchet can be used on it safely..The lug nuts on my tyre are too tight to take off with my socket wrench, any ideas on how to get them off?Get you a short piece of pipe that just fits over the lug wrench (called a cheater pipe). The pipe should extend about 18 inches over the end of the wrench. This allows more leverage in breaking the lugs free. Be sure to tighten the lugs back down (better than hand tight) when you put the tire back on. I made sure my daughters have one in the trunk for their tire problems.
