My car seems to be stalling in the first and second gears. It has never done this before until recently. It goes really slow and needs me be continue to press on the clutch. I dont know what is going on, can anyone help me figure this out? I dont have a lot of money and need to know how much it might cost and what the problem might be? Thanks a bunch!
My car is a 1990 Mazda Miata X-5 around 70,000 miles, manual. Just had an oil change, new tires and just put a new clutch last year.Problems!! Car is stalling in the first and second gear?it sounds like your transmission could be going bad, not a cheap fix, i would suggest trying to buy a used part from either ebay (but make sure it is OEM certified with a return policy if it doesnt fit and make sure seller has positive feedback) or find a used part at a local garage, that way you pay the mininum for the part and then labor of course which isnt going to be cheap (60-70$$ and hour)Problems!! Car is stalling in the first and second gear?Sounds like a bad clutch, take it back to where you had the work done.

http://www.digitalmayheminc.comProblems!! Car is stalling in the first and second gear?Have you checked the breaks... they may be dragging a tad. backing up is a way to adjust drum brakes tighter and that may have happened to you. I think I'd also look for a bad bearing and/or clutch assembly.
